Leaping Into a NEW 30 Day Challenge From Chewy.com

Yes. I have used this photo a couple of times. But. . . I think
I look CUTE in it so. . .

We received an email from Ms. Sydney at Chewy.com asking if we would be interested in doing a 30 day challenge for Holistic Blend Dog and Cat food.
We thought about it for . . . like . . . 30 seconds and said OKAY. But Mommy intervened and said she would have to look this food up to decide because BASICALLY she does not want to feed us JUNK. What she found out was Holistic Blend Dog and Cat foods are made with real MEAT not byproducts. Every nugget contains Whole Brown Rice, Hulless Barley, Wild Salmon Meal, Whole Oats, Carrots, Potato ,Rosemary, Garlic, Kelp and Tomato. This is all good stuff!!! Real food stuff, not food-like stuff. It is also highly digestible, promotes good coat and skin, and because the ingredients are so rich in proteins and such, the serving sizes can be smaller and still contain all of the daily vitamins and minerals a PUG PRINCESS, QUEEN OF THE HOUSE, AND DELICATE FLOWER MALTY need.

So Mommy said yes. Two days later we heard the sound of Mr. FedEx arriving and we did this

And ran downstairs like CRAZY!!! When we got there, Mr. FEDEX had gone; but in his wake he left behind this

Mommy eventually opened them. How thrilled we are to FINALLY try this food. In fact, for a whole HOUR after Mommy opened the boxes, Molly laid down next to the bags WILLING them to ACCIDENTALLY open so she could have a treat. Didn't happen. We BEGIN the

30 DAY CHALLENGE

tomorrow.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • All Life Stages – Puppy, Adult, Senior
  • Free Range Meats
  • Naturally Preserved (Rosemary)
  • Chelated minerals, whole grains, fruits, antioxidants & herbs

* We are not being paid for this challenge. Not a penny is passing onto our PAWS. Any thought, observation and opinion belong to us, Casa de Noodles and only us. We did receive two bags (one dog and one cat) of Holistic Blend for the sole purpose of trying the product and evaluating it.

BENEFITS

  • Promotes healthy skin and coat
  • Hypo-allergenic

Poor Mommy

This is how my Mommy looks lately. She has been sick with The Cold of the Century for a week now and it has gotten her down! She is normally in perpetual motion and lately has had so much work that she has been a blur of business. But not this week. Nope . . . down for the count. She says she can't think clearly and can't see clearly (teary eyes). The cough makes her throat sore and the medicine makes her sleepy.

I'd feel sorry for her except when she HAS to LAY DOWN. . . well, I get to be right there by her side.
I KINDA want her to feel better BUT I don't want to lose that snuggle time.

Wordless Wednesday Comes So Quickly I Can Hardly Pose FAST Enough!

I don't know why I chose this. I like the X-Men but I prefer the Avengers. . . and the crew of the SS Enterprise. . . and The Jedi with a few Storm Troopers thrown in. . .

Dental Health is SOOO Important - Product Review for Chewy.com

As well all know, dental health is so important for the overall well being of pets. My Mommys (and Molly's as well) try so hard to keep our pearly whites . . . uh . . . pearly white with daily (attempts at) brushing. But it doesn't always go as planned. Little dogs, like Molly and myself, are prone to poor teeth and dental problems. Ask any pug owner and they will tell you the same.

But we try, nonetheless. One way to help clean our teeth is by using dental chews and chewy things like Bully Sticks (from which I have been banned - but that is a whole 'nother tale). There is a problem with some dental chews as well - some simply do not digest well and cause intestinal blockage in some small dogs. In addition, for me anyhow, the small dog ones are two-biters which offer none of the chewing benefits and the large ones are too large.

So when Chewy.com offered a variety of dental treats for the February offering, we said WHY NOT! And we chose a product we had never tried before -

We liked that the product was from a company even our DOGter approves of (he carries a full line of Science Diet products). Plus they kinda looked funner than the others - I can't say why, It was a GUT feeling. So we told Ms. Sydney from Chewy.com what we were interested in and she sent them out LICKETY split. We had our TESTER PACKAGE in 2 days. What service.

We could smell the deliciousness through all of the packaging (Mommy says we only THOUGHT we could smell it as everything was well sealed). I am embarrassed to admit, we made IDIOTS of ourselves trying to open the sealed box, rifle through the packaging paper, and RIP the hermetically sealed packaging. When we did, we were pleasantly surprised - the ODOR of the dental chews was even better than we initially thought it was.

Mommy ordered the medium dog size to see if perhaps I would get more than 2 chews from the treat and she is right. It lasts me AT LEAST 5 minutes as opposed to the usual 30 seconds of small dog chews. Molly, however, needs it cut in half otherwise SHE CLAIMS it is just too much.

One of the reasons these treats are so good it they contain REAL FOOD! I cannot emphasize enough how important this is in taste, freshness, and overall healthiness of a treat. Look at what these Hills Science Diet Dental Chews contain

Potato Flour, Rice Flour, Water, Glycerin, Peas, Technical Pork Gelatin, Pork Gelatin, Sunflower Oil, Carrots, Calcium Carbonate, Flaxseed, Natural Chicken Flavor, Chicken, Parsley, Pumpkin, Zinc Propionate, Citric Acid added to retain freshness

Pretty impressive, huh? We like them so much we HAVE to have them after every meal. Huh? Oh, right. . . Mommy reminded me that I TRIED to get them after every meal but SHE decided once a day was plenty for any PUG. It provides a good amount of chew to help clean tarter off teeth and not too many wasted calories which my waistline simply does not need/

And they really do perform as advertised

  • Freshens your dog's breath
  • Great taste and great nutrition
  • No corn, artificial colors or flavors
  • Recommended for adult and mature dogs
  • Made in the USA

We were not paid for this review nor were we told what to write for this review. All of the observations and opinions are from ONE PUG and ONE MALTY MIX alone without outside influence. We received free of charge one bag of Hills Science Diet Dental Chews in order to test the product.

It's a Cold and Flu Season Monday

Mommy is under the weather today so I am playing nursemaid. It really only means I sleep snuggled by her side THE WHOLE DAY.

I am convinced this will make her feel better by tonight.

Friday Foughts (as in thoughts)!!!

Hi. I know, I know. I missed posting anything yesterday. So sorry about that. When the Mommy has to go up the PENINSULA for work, I get shoved aside. I know she means well, but . . . well, you KNOW.

LAST weekend the weather was incredible. It was in the high SEVENTIES and sunny sunny sunny. On Sunday, we went to the DOG PARK. We have not gone much lately because. . . well the city let the grass die and it was not as much fun. PLUS a lot of people have been letting their BIG DOGS into the LITTLE DOG side which is just wrong. I don't like a lot of big dogs. In fact, DRAEGO, my BFF Bellatrix's bro, is about the only BIG DOG I can tolerate.

Molly ran around a lot. I trotted a bit (see me in the background of this still?) but mostly I sat in the shade soaking up ATMOSPHERE.

Here is a video of our play day

It's All About the Presidents. . . or IS It?

Today is President's Day although, to be honest, I don't know of a single President who was born on this day. Lemme GOOGLE that. . .
Here's what I found

  1. George Washington - Feb 22
  2. William Henry Harrison - Feb 9
  3. Abraham Lincoln - Feb 12
  4. Ronald Reagan - Feb 6
Note, none on February 15. So while thinking about this phenomenon, I decided that perhaps this country celebrates like some tech companies. . . February Birthdays. . . March Birthdays. . . April Birthdays. . . and so on. BUT we really don't celebrate any other Presidents' birthdays. Why is that? Why is there no Millard Fillmore day (January 7, BTW)?

This celebrating stuff is so confusing to me because SOMETIMES a special day is celebrated and sometimes it is NOT. And other times we celebrate on days CLOSE to the special day (like the Chinese New Year parade in China Town is ABOUT 2 weeks from the beginning of Chinese New Year and WHY is there a 12 day celebratory period anyHOO?) and sometimes we celebrate the MONDAY after the actual holiday (like Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and so on). That makes things all neat and tidy, huh?

I reckon if we celebrated EVERYTHING then there would be more days off than work days and nothing would get done, huh? But I do wonder who decides what will be a holiday or what misses the cut.

My Mommy #2 used to decide the company holidays for her work. There were no real guidelines other than everyone got 10 paid holidays and Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day were required. So when Mommy chose a holiday to put on the list, it came down to (1) school days off, (2) vacation plans, and (3) convenience.

In summation, instead of calling today Presidents' Day when we are only celebrating a FEW presidents, I think we should call today a CONVENIENCE HOLIDAY and while we are at it, celebrate a few Presidents' birthdays.

Cat Trial

She is at it again. . . Sunshine the Cat, the self-designated QUEEN of Casa de Noodles (come again??) wheedled her way into doing a *product review AGAIN! And that lovely Ms Sydney from Chewy.com said YES!! So what could little ol' Noodles the Pug do? I temporarily stepped aside and let THE QUEEN have her way. But note I said temporarily because ONE- the blog is mine and TWO- I am reviewing a product next week, also for Chewy.com. So that THAT Queenie.

For her Trial, Sunshine chose the variety of canned cat food by Tiki Cat called

Tiki Cat Gourmet Carnivore Variety Pack Canned Cat Food, 2.8-oz, case of 12

I think Sunshine like the word CARNIVORE in the product name. It makes her feel all tough and stuff. So that is one paw up for good marketing. Chewy.com has all of the varieties of food Tiki Cat makes so there is something for everyone. I suggest you follow the link (where it says TIKI CAT) and see what I mean.
Chewy.com delivered the food in under 2 days in typical CHEWY.COM style. We love them here - especially Mommy #2 who no longer goes the the pet store to stand in the aisles staring at pet food choices until she hyperventilates and grabs the cheapest one she can find. That NEVER turns out well for us.
I am going to step aside and let Sunshine the Cat take over for the review. Take it away YOUR HIGHNESS!

That kinda sums up her review. It came, SHE saw, and she conquered. She "conquers" it every night for her evening meal. She is quite insistent. And I mean INSISTENT!!

The inside info on Tiki Cat Gourmet Carnivore cat food is it is GRAIN FREE and GLUTEN FREE. Those are two foods cats simply do not need. And it is 55% protein and 35% fat which is good for cats. It is made with whole meats and has a zero glycemic index which I assume means there is no added sugar,

Sunshine tried the Tilapia which she said is FIT FOR A QUEEN. Gone are her Kit n Kaboodle and Meow Mix days. This kitty is HOOKED on the good stuff.

Check it out for yourself - if you're a cat, of course. According Sunshine the Cat who is actually quite fussy, it is MEOW-worthy. She gives it FOUR ROYAL PAWS UP.

*We were not paid for this review nor for the opinions expressed in this review. The opinions are ours and ours alone prompted by actually trying the product over a period of time. We did receive the product free of charge from Chewy.com in exchange for our honest opinion.

Dontcha Just LOVE a New Bed?

Mommy went shopping online not so long ago. I am not sure of the occasion. I think it had something to do with FINISHING her TAXES.

In any case, she was feeling generous and took a stroll down the VIRTUAL AISLES of Pugs in the Kitchen.

We like to encourage local and cottage businesses, as you may know. PITK, as the business is affectionately known, is owned and run by some good PUG folk who we met RIGHT HERE IN BLOGVILLE from the blog The Pugs Strike Back. Nowadays, though, their time is consumed with PITK webpage, blog, Facebook page, Twitter account, and Instagram. You can find them here:

They have TREATS that are OUT of this WORLD and they make them all themselves. . . in their kitchen. . . with fresh ingredients. . . they are SIMPLY AWESOME.

They also have other stuff like TOYS, Poop Bag HOLDERS, Tags, AWESOME BEDS. . . and more. We have ordered from them before and loves loves loves their products.

This time though Mommy was in a mood for something special A SCI FI mood, if you will. And she found something she KNEW I would like too. Here's a hint

Yesterday the BOX ARRIVED!!!

Mommy Opened it up and out popped a NEW BED for me with STAR TREK all over it!

This is how I spent the rest of the day while Mommy worked. I am thinking of doing the same thing today! I love my new bed.

Thank you PITK for being so AWESOME.

PeeEss: We did get some treats RIGHT away which is very unusual. But Mommy thought the new bed was a good enough occasion to celebrate with a TREAT. We chose

Sweet Potato Chicken Treats

The Super Bowl Should Be Called the Stupor Bowl

I don't know about you, but I am completely exhausted from all the Super Bowl 50 stuff. We at Casa de Noodles hosted a small party which was mostly Mommy #2, Auntie T and Auntie B's FRIENDS. Not a pup in the place except for Molly and myself. It was loud sometimes although no one was really interested in the game. Everyone is a Forty-Niner fan and they were not in the game. But the game WAS hosted by the SF Bay Area so it was very important to all of us.

Most of the whooping and hollering was during the commercials (a few winners like Ryanville - and a few losers like the diarrhea one) and the half time show.

I found this one particularly disturbing and whined when it came on

No one really watches the Super Bowl for the music but over the years it has become more and more over the top. This year was no exception - other than the whole performance being shown. Coldplay was good BUT Bruno Mars and Beyonce KILLED it. Even I was dancing during their set.

But back to the party - there was so much food and I gotta admit, I kinda overdid it with the begging during the cooking. I can honestly say that I was FULL before the show began. I cannot impress on you enough just how extraordinary that fact is. I am a PUG and I was FULL and not STARVING.
Too weird.

Once the party would down and clean up completed, we all settled down for the night. Well, TRIED to - because at midnight the FIRECRACKERS began signifying THE YEAR OF THE MONKEY has begun.

Happy and Prosperous New Year everyPUGGY!

Lost - Thursday and . . . SUPER BOWL 50 Weekend is HERE!

This photo has no relevance to the topic. I just thought it was cute.
Did anypuggy notice I was MIA yesterday? It's so true it HURTS. My Mommy left the house at 7:30am and did not return until DINNER TIME. This is what happens a lot now that she works from home. . . I do NOT like it. You and I BOTH know the blog does not get posted without
MS. THUMBS

So that's all I'm gonna say about that other than to inform you that I SLEPT away another day. And this one was a little warmer and a little riper for adventure. But - that's the end of this
TELL. . . TAIL. . .TALE. . . Whatever!

I don't know if you are aware of this, but the SUPER BOWL is practically in MY BACK YARD! Yes, it is true. Levi Stadium is less than 10 miles and 22 minutes (without traffic) from my house. And you are right if you are thinking "But Noodles does not live ANYWHERE NEAR San Francisco!" Because - I don't and neither does Levi Stadium. Nope, the stadium lives at the END of the San Francisco Bay - over an hour away from San Francisco.

Look to the middle of the kidney shape to see SF and
below the end for SC

Luckily for us, Super Bowl City and all of the concerts are in San Francisco. Unfortunately for us, all of the traffic will be in our neighborhood.

But that's okay because Levi Stadium is a lovely venue and we are fiercely proud of it despite the inherent hassles of a pro-football stadium.

This view look West. I live East.

So are you ready for some FOOTBALL? I sure am. I loves loves loves the game and even though my BELOVED 49ers did not make it to the show THIS year, I am still a fan. We are having a party, by the way - just some friends of the family over for FOOD and FOOTBALL. I am betting after the second glass of wine, there will be ample food droppage to put Molly and myself into a FOOD COME.

Monday Went and Did It Again

Hmmmmmm - so the day went and did it AGAIN! It became Monday WAY too soon and WAY too fast. Oh, excuse me. That is redundant. I can't help it.

It is Monday.

So I started it like any other day with a pee and my breakfast IN THAT ORDER but exclusive of each other. I like routine. It keeps me sane.

BUT then it got all weirded out when Mommy #1 came down dressed in a strange outfit (something about Spirit Week) and Mommy #2 was up and dressed early with KEYS in hand. That was when I realized. . .

It isn't the WEEKEND anymore, Noodles!

I am trying to regain my bearings right now with a PILLOW and a serious NAP on the horizon. Perhaps when I awake the day will be TUESDAY and I will be reassured that a normal day will ensue.
