It's definitely challenging to find good events. We are driving to Richmond (about an hour from here) for Pug-O-Ween at the end of the month. One day, when mom is finished with school, we are driving to Atlanta for SEPRA's PugFest. Thousands of pugs and people. Oh yeah.
