Hiya from the FOG

I really don't have a lot to say today except Hi.
It was so foggy this am and chilly! I don't know about you but I have a very difficult time dragging my cute lil PUG HINEY outta bed when I am cold. Not even for my bidness. But I do it because I am a good girl and a respectful PUG. Except for the occasional STINK BUTT on the pillow. I can't always help that.
But I DIGRESS.
The point is - I simply had a hard time getting up and getting going this morning.
There is another reason why I just couldn't get going today - Mommy #2 is working from home so I got/am getting some extra snuggles and treats. I loves loves loves it when MY Mommys stay home with me. I get all comfy and cozy on their laps. I can stay like that ALL DAY, if they'd let me. I spend a fair amount of time alone in my pen so having my family WITH ME is so so so special.
This time of year is so busy for the whole family that these little islands of TIME are to be cherished. I know I cherish them.
MOMMY! Get away from that washing machine monster and come back and cuddle me.

I heard FOOD

Was that a carrot dropping?

One of my household jobs is helping in the kitchen. I take my job very very SERIOUSLY. What I do is highly specialized and area specific TO THE KITCHEN BY THE STOVE.

Here is what I do

  • I make sure I am right on MOMMY'S heel at ALL TIMES
  • Occasionally I whimper so she knows NOODLES IS ON THE JOB
  • I scrounge around the floor in the prep area to MAKE SURE no bits or pieces of food are on the ground. I would not want Mommy to SLIP and FALL on something when she is cooking
  • I bark LOUD and CONTINUOUSLY when the timer goes off so Mommy knows the FOOD is READY
  • I am READY and WILLING to act as taster or even, in a vague kinda way, GUINEA PIG to save to family from a sub-par meal
It is a lot for a little pug to handle but with my keen sense of HEARING and SMELLING (only when it comes to FOOD), I know I am the
PUG FOR THE JOB

Near the END

Mommy says I have used this photo before. I am not so sure, but in any case it bears repeating - BECAUSE in it I am doing something I have not had the opportunity to do too much of since BELLATRIX'S birthday PAWty. . .  and that is EAT A COOKIE.

Yes, I, Noodles the Pug has been on a D-I-E-T since AUGUST and it has been so very tough. Imagine being a pug and not getting constant food? Insane, I tell ya. But I AM HAPPY to report that my efforts have not been in vane and I am well on my way BACK to svelte-ness. I may even let Mommy weigh me so I know FOR SURE how many TONS I have lost. It HAS to be at least one cuz Mommy always tells me I WEIGH A TON.

So right in time for the holidays - the time I packed on the poundage last time - I will be in primo TREAT RECEIVING shape. I have even included TREATS and COOKIES and FROZEN YOGURT and CAKE on my list for Sandy Paws.

That is really about all I have to say today - that and

MOMMY, GIMME SOME FOOD! I AM HUNGRY!!!!!

The LONG and SHORT of It

The shadows are getting LONGER and longer now that summer is on the way out. I noticed this last week when the weather was still a little warm and I was outside in the early evening. Where all summer the sun was high and the air still warm, now the sun was drifting lower on the horizon and there is a sea breeze cooling off the heat of the day.

Our frequent barbecues are becoming less frequent as the days become SHORTER. Who, other than ME, wants to begin cooking at 4pm to make sure there is enough light to BBQ by? Not the adults in my house. The result - less barbecue and less of that delicious barbecued flavor on the veggies and chicken. I can still imagine how good it all tastes.

I like the crispness of the FALL. I can take walks in the middle of the day because it is cooler and the distance of the sun to the earth is LONGER. I can tell that even when it is a warm day there is a layer of coolness that just was not there before. The sun FEELS more distant to me. I loves loves loves it, though, because, frankly, I do NOT like hot sidewalks and burning tootsies.

But sometimes my evening walks are SHORTER because the darkness arrives too soon. All three adilt HUMANS in the house work so evening walks are hard to manage ANY WAGS. So now, they are coming in the DOOR and the sun is almost gone. Usually that means a swift walk to the end of the block and back.I don't blame them. It feels later than it is to me too.

With the FALL, I have noticed, are some interesting new smells and sounds. I look forward to the change.

Do NOT Disturb, PAW-leez!

I am exhausted from the weekend and we didn't really DO a lot. In fact, I think I did less than usual. But we had house guests which meant Friday evening we had to CLEAN real good so our guests would NOT know we have dust and unkempt beds. Then we had to GO SHOPPING for food so our guests would NOT know we have NO FOOD in the house cuz we're always on D-I-E-T-S. All the while, I had a considerable amount of responsibility in that I was on the LOOK OUT for our guests - when I spotted them I had to bark LOUDLY and incessantly. I am VERY good at my job.

So with guests comes the usual goofy behavior required of ME for treats; trotting for pats on the noggin and more TREATS; and an frequent trips to my crate for excessive EXUBERANCE (also requiring more TREATS). So it was pretty tiring being me all day.

Finally, the weekend was over and the guests left on their trip back to their house. After they left, a whole 'nother round began of LAUNDRY (it is my mission to rid the house of the washing machine monster) and food-for-the-week making, and bed RE-MAKING. Whew. Exhausting.

Poor Mommys have to go to school and work today.
THIS is all I can muster, though.

DON'T DISTURB ME FOR AT LEAST 4 HOURS!!!

Emeritus Emerald Tiara

Emeritus Professor Princess Payton

I want to thank all of you for coming out to my FIRST ever Prince and Princess class.
It was so fun and all of you were very enthusiastic students. I had a suggestion to do
a How to Become an Empress class next time (great comment - ironically Mommy
and I are reading the autobiography of Catherine the Great, Empress of Russia).
This is a great suggestion and I will try and keep in mind for next year.

I wanted to tell you about Emeritus Professor Payton who was by my side throughout
the whole class. She would whisper suggestions and evaluations to me all the time
and her input was invaluable to the success of the class. What you may not have been
aware of is Professor Payton is an ANGEL. She sadly crossed the Rainbow Bridge
5 MONTHS ago after waging a years long battle with PDE. A battle she
TOTALLY WON, I might add. It was a respiratory illness that eventually tired her
out. But not a day goes by that I don't THINK of Payton and wonder how she would
act in a given situation (Princesses are ALWAYS wondering how to ACT). I know
she is always right there with me. She whispers encouragement when I am faced with
a dilemma and hails my virtues when I am a GOOD DOGGY.

So, of course she HAD to be a part of my class. Payton was the consummate
PRINCESS. Her servants (Mom and Dad) were always at her beck and call.
Her toys were of the highest quality and her food special made.

Popularity????? Oh that GURL could WORK IT!

She is my hero and all my PRINCESSNESS I attribute to her tutelage. Without
Angel Payton, Emeritus Professor, by my side, this class would not have been possible.

So thanks for being there for me, Professor. You have earned that EMERALD TIARA!!!!

Classy Class Commencing

Welcome to my class on being a PRINCE or PRINCESS. My name is PROFESSOR PRINCESS NOODLES and at my side is PROFESSOR EMERITUS ANGEL PAYTON of Pugnacious P.

If you read my Silly Bus then you know what we plan to accomplish. Trust me - it will be fun!!! Oh, and there was some question about grading. I, Noodles the Princess Pug does not believe in GRADES. I am sure if you are interested enough to sign up for my class, then you deserve an A+.

Let's take ROLL, now
FRANKIE and ERNIE..................................................................................Here
BENNY and LILY........................................................................................Here
MOLLY the WALLY....................................................................................Here
MONA, WEENIE & MOMMY....................................................................Here
DACHSIES WITH MOXIE...........................................................................Here
CASEY and CINDERELLA..........................................................................Here
SUSIE and SIDEBAR....................................................................................Here

Let's get started

LESSON ONE: Bow to your Minions
Note the head level and the tiara tilt. Princes - you will have a crown.
This move is performed ABOVE the masses, never below or at eye level. I prefer the top of the sofa. If you can manage it, a table is better.

LESSON TWO: WALKING IN THE ROOM
Enter the room like you OWN it - or like you expect a TREAT just for being there. . . and you DO!!!

LESSON THREE: GREETING and THE CIRCUIT
Note the command when I walk into the room. The other PUGGIES are awaiting permission to GREET ME. No one SNIFFS MY BUTT unless he/she wants a serious REBUFF.
Following my ENTRANCE, I proceed to visit all attending in order to say THANK YOU for sharing MY TIME.

LESSON FOUR: THE WALK
Make sure your head is held HIGH and that you lift each paw TO YOUR KNEE - almost a prance. Come to think of it . . . . .  it IS a PRANCE.

LESSON FIVE: EXIT GRACEFULLY
This is the trickiest part of being a
Prince or Princess - the EXIT. After
all, a PRINCE or PRINCESS must be in control
ALWAYS. Hold you HEAD high and PRANCE
like you are on a MISSION!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
You have completed training to be a PRINCE or PRINCESS. Please feel free to add this diploma to your blog. It has been a pleasure to be your teacher.

The Power of Words

I was reading the newspaper with my Mommys. We do this everyday because it is important to be informed. On this particular day (Yesterday) there was a stirring story about a Note.

Note, you say? What is so special about a note?

Well this note happened to be written 11 years ago today - from one of the World Trade Center towers. It was from a man who was trapped on the 84t floor of the building along with 12 other persons. He wrote the note and tossed it out of the window hoping it would find its way to someone who could help them. He did not know the building was going to collapse trapping and killing all inside.

Fast forward 11 years later and his note finds its way to his family. On the note were

FIVE WORDS

84th Floor
West Office
12 people trapped

Those 5 little words have changed history - not just for the family of the writer - Randy Scott - but for the rest of the United States of America.

For the family, it changed how they thought he died. Sadly, he did not die painlessly nor quickly, as they had hoped.

For the rest of us - it added 1 more NAME to the list of HEROES from that horrible day. Randy Scott had attempted to save 12 people by using the only thing available to himself at that time - THE POWER OF WORDS.

Words can move people - words can move nations.

I wish Randy Scott's words could have saved himself and the 12 persons trapped with him. Since they did not, I want to empower these words to let us never forget what September 11 means to all of us:

The Unity of our NATION and the preservation of our FREEDOM.

Finally some time for my BLOG! Thank you all for your patience. I put together a little slideshow for my pictures from Pug Sunday. But I didn't get pictures of everypuggy, as I found out. Where is Zoey? Phoebe? Rupert (who mistakenly called Rufus in an earlier post)? I need to talk to my photgrapher. This is unacceptable.

Happy Friday!!!!

I Left My HEART in SF . . .

Sunday September 2, 2012
Alta Park in PacHeights overlooking the Marina and Alcatraz

We had the best adventure EVER on Sunday. We went to Pug Sunday in San Francisco. It is probably one of the BEST known pug gatherings in Nor Cal. We do not often go because the City is over an hour's drive away (GA$) and parking is always an i$$ue there as well. But Mommy #2 was determined to go this time and she DID NOT tell me why.
First she loaded my crate into the car. I love when she does this because it means we are going on an adventure.
Doesn't this look comfy? Close to my Mommys and
I can see what's going by. I love my CAR CRATE.
Then, pretty early in the morning we took off in Pugsley, our car, destined for the City By The Bay. It was a nice and uneventful drive. The weather was perfect - sunny with blue skies all around the bay. Whispers of fog nestled on the beaches and ocean making the breeze cool. Perfect for PUGS.

We got to the park early - only got lost once. But Mommy #2 had allowed plenty of time to find the place and to find parking. She needn't have worried. There was a lot of parking when we got there (but not 30 minutes later).

We did not see anyone we knew there. There were about 3 or 4 pugs there but none I knew.

But by 1:30 I knew EVERYPUGGY! It was amazing. Tiffy was there, Bellatrix was there, Noodle & Mochi were there, Zoey & Phoebe were there, Ellie was there, Gertie was there, Honey Kate was there, Puglet & Dutch were there, Atlas was there, Miko (a new FURiend) was there . . . and I heard Rufus from Sacramento was there too but I didn't see him.

Well, watch this video and you will see EVERYPUGGY and some human backs, legs and feet.

Best of all - Angel Payton's parents were there!!! I got to meet them and get hugs and kisses from them! And I got treats from them. And I wanted to go HOME with them (not really, but kinda). What I DIDN'T do is get a picture of me with them. Booo.

Did Someone say T-R-E-A-T????

Tomorrow I will post pictures of my FURiends (the ones I can recognize).

Work Sucks

Mom has too much work to do today so she cannot help me do my blog.
Tune in tomorrow for, I dunno, SOMETHING!
