A Different BUT Great Summer (and yes, I know the REAL Summer is not over yet)

Our Summer guests are gone, Cousin C is back at school, Me/Mommy#1/Mommy#2 moved back to Casa de Noodles, and Cousin E and Mommy #1 are preparing to return to university. August started off rather cool and we contemplated sweater and then POOF! The cool days were gone and replaced with scorching temps. This has been some SUMMER.

JUNE

Because there were so many people in our house, Auntie B said ME and my MOMMYS could stay at her mother's empty house. Grandma H had passed away last Fall and the house had been empty since. What a TREAT that was - we had the run of the house and I didn't have to share my bed with Molly AT ALL!

No Mommy, I said I was not sharing with ANYONE, not just Molly. Ha! Like I said, I really enjoyed being a solo PUG - even if it was only in the evenings and on weekends. We were at Casa de Noodles every day so Mommy #2 could work. That is where her office is AND Grandma H's house had no wifi.

July

The Fourth of July was a tough one. It was actually tough from the end of June because that is when the neighbors in the court behind Grandma H's house began shooting off fireworks. Big BOOMS! I got used to their pattern and was pretty calm . . . UNTIL. . . The. . . FOURTH!!!! Our big house has places where the BOOMS are not so loud - but not the little place we were staying. It was almost like the BOOMS were inside!  See that belly wrap? It was actually (poorly) wrapped around my chest and midsection in an effort to keep me calm. Mommy was worried. The BOOMS were so loud I simply could NOT calm down. The wrap helped.

The white peaches became ripe while we were there and I enjoyed going outside and noshing a peach or two (or three). Then one day Mommy #2 declared they were ripe and picked a whole bunch - I helped. I THOUGHT they were all for me which is why I am smiling in the photo. I got one or two. . .sigh. . .

This is how the counter at THE HOUSE looked ALL THE TIME. Fresh fruit. Mouth-watering, huh. I am so lucky to live in CALIFORNIA and to have fruit trees readily available.

July was also when we took an ALL FAMILY trip to Lake Tahoe. We stayed at Auntie DD's chalet in Meyers. I have been there a couple of times before and I gotta say - I love it so much. This was the first time in over 20 years that Mommy #2 and ALL of her SISTERS were in the same place at the same time. It was a pretty amazing week.

We took a lot of walks in the highly SCENTED mountain air. I almost hyperventilated from breathing so deeply.

Molly enjoyed a few walks but UNLIKE ME, she does not like to get her paws dirty so her walks were confined to POTTY walks.

My Mommys took a jaunt down to the shore of LAKE TAHOE for the sunset. It was pretty spectacular from where I was. Seeing the photos from lakeside made me wish I could have joined them. Next time, they assured me.

AUGUST

August was, like I said was cooler than normal. It was still warm during the day; but our famous FOG came back in to cool down the evenings and early mornings. The flowers were happier with the cooler weather and we had a lot of DAHLIAS and even a couple of Hydrangea blooms on the counter.

Mommy #2 did a lot of JAM making with the peaches. They ripen faster than everybody could eat them and she didn't want them to go to waste. So she made several KINDS of white peach jam. She never let me taste the JAM but she did give me pieces of fruit.

We had some down time now and them and Mommy spent them reading or crocheting. I "helped" by snoozing right by her side. I learned a lot through OSMOSIS.

One day we drove to Ptown where Auntie B lives. She was dog-sitting a yorkie named FANCY. I got along fine with Fancy and we even took a walk together AND picked APPLES.

I loves loves loves APPLES.

Fancy would not pose for the PHOTO. But believe me, she is cute.

August was also the GREAT N. AMERICAN ECLIPSE of 2017. It went from WEST coast to EAST coast and everyone had some degree of darkness. We were not in the TOTALITY ZONE but we did have about 75-85% of the sun covered. It was really neat. I was outside with Mom to see it but she ushered me inside when I HAD TO LOOK in the direction she was looking. I didn't want to miss what she saw. The difference was she had special ECLIPSE GLASSES and I did not.

She took this cool shadow picture of the eclipse. All of her other attempts were for naught.

NOW WE ARE HOME

Thank you Auntie B for sharing your mom's home with us and helping us make such wonderful memories. It is a SUMMER I will never forget.

Does It Really Have to be Monday AGAIN?

Mommy using the Hamilton App

I, Noodles the Pug, decree today August 28 to be a SUNDAY and not a MONDAY. I am not ready to begin another week. I am not ready to get up yet. And I CERTAINLY am not ready to return to my normal routine.

So bid farewell to Monday until I decide it can return to haunt me.

Farewell. . . .farewell . . . tata!

Help My Pug is Melting!

It hasn't been hot here or anything like that. Warm but not hot. I took a walk yesterday and it was a little above my comfort temps but that is all.

Actually these photos are from the weekend. It was a busy weekend with me "helping" mommy make jam and the "helping" Auntie B and Auntie DD move some stuff. It was a lot for a little PUG and it wore me out.

But I'd do it again and again because I love love love helping my FURiends.

It's Wednesday and you know what that means. . . HOP

Summer Song Time

I am singing my Summer Song to you
Long days and sunshine gently
Warming the air once cool

I am singing my Summer Song
Peaches to eat a-plenty
The season doesn't last long

I am singing my Summer Song once more
A segue to Fall leaves that dapple
Me as I lay on the Apple Tree floor
Eating. . . apple. . . cores

Ahhhhhh Summer
Ohhhh Fall

Total Eclipse Bombshell

That is right folks. One of the biggest natural phenomena in decades and we HAVE NO SUN. I was all prepared, too.

  • Had a NAP
  • Did my potty JOB
  • ACQUIRED Eclipse Glasses (Thank you Auntie AB)
I am so in a quandry over this because the FOG has been missing for a while and I was hoping for its return. BUT NOT TODAY OF ALL DAYS.

The infamous San Francisco Bay Area Fog showed up today. Not just at the COAST. Not just on the PENINSULA. Nope, nope, nope It stretches across the whole Bay Area.

It's okay, though. We will be watching on NASA.com and I know the overall color outside will change as the eclipse moves through its stages. We just won't see the actual eclipse.

UPDATE
The sun came OUT just as the eclipse was getting underway. Mommy was squealing with delight as she gathered her ECLIPSE glasses, pinhole camera, phone, and went to the backyard. I went out too but she ushered me inside when I kept looking where she was looking. She said she could not risk damaging my eyes.

The view through pinhole camera. The breeze kept moving
it so her picture is not real great. This was at
50 percent

I didn't know. I thought it was a BIRD, or a PLANE, or a SUPERHERO, or something.

Eclipse shadows

Anyhow, she said it was miraculous and COOL and she is soooo happy she was able to view it afterall. She watched for a zillion HOURS and finally let me come out. She showed me there was a strawberry I had overlooked and so I forgave her for incarcerating me.

I'm FREE. . . . .

August is for Celebrating

Tuesday was my Mommy #2's birthday. She shares it with Aunt B. So we always have TWICE the fun when we celebrate.

The daytime was not too exciting because everyPUGGY had to work. It was a day like any other day except IT WASN'T. It was my Mommy's birthday. So we slept in a little (like .9 seconds) and we had a tasty breakfast. The we went to work and I spent ALL DAY cuddled up to my Mommy's feet. It is my favorite place to sit.

Then the whole family minus the FURBABIES (harrumph!) went out to dinner. I HEARD it was a good time but I do not have first hand experience. But I CAN tell you every one of the humans (except Cousin E's boyfriend) came home GROANING about being too full. Nonetheless, this happened

Did you watch the whole thing? I am pretty proud of it, myself. I didn't howl at the end like I sometimes do. . . but I did sing with passion and I think that is more important. One has to FEEL the song to SELL the song, as they say.

Then Mommy and Aunt B opened gifts and gushed about everything. They were happy, I can tell. And I was so happy too. I love it when my Mommy is happy.

Have an absolutely FAB weekend everyPUGGY. I am thinking some BEACH might happen.

And we're stayin' alive, stayin' alive
Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive, stayin' alive
Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive . . .

On Strike!!!!

Let it be known that I. . . Noodles the Pug . . . am on strike. I am striking for the right to MAKE my weekend LONGER. And by LONGER I mean by a FEW more days. Let's be honest. . . 2 days is not nearly enough down time. It definitely is not enough FAMILY time. It most assuredly is not enough PLAY time.

SO I am going to lay right here on this pillow until the weekend comes back around again. . . be that 1 day from now or 5. I am on STRIKE!!!

Friday Fumblings

Huh. Something appears to be wrong with my BLOGGER. . . or maybe with Blogger in general.
I cannot upload a photo for this post. That will make for a rather BORING post, I dare say. . . but here goes. . .

Once upon a time, there was a little pug names Noodles
She was named after a favorite food - or foodables
She loved to go out in her yard and forage
Among the fruit trees for EDIBLES
As luck would have it, she always found
A peach, an apple and an occasional Plum
It made her waistline a little round
But stopped her tummy sound
Summer wore on
The days warmer
The fruits' bounty waned

Ere, the days were cool
Noodles found
Nary a bite of . . .
Apple
Peach
Plum
Berry
'Cot

See! I made my own picture. Happy Friday Pugs n Peeps

Wholly Wednesday

Hello everyPUGGY. What a day! The summer fog has returned and I am having a tough time getting going. Actually, the FOG is late. Our summers are characterized by warm weather followed by cooling fog. But this summer has been wacky. We had a relatively cool June followed by a crazy hot July. Then AUGUST started with thundershowers and even some lightning! Now. . . now we have a little normalcy with the return of the fog.

The house is uber quiet because most of the family is gone. Aunt B, Aunt M, and Cousin C are in the Land of the Mouse. Aunt T and Cousin E are at work. Mommy #1 is at Auntie B's Mom's house where we are staying and Mommy #2 is here working. She says she can actually CONCENTRATE for once and it is making her head hurt. HA!! I think she is FAKING it.

I want to give a POTP Shout-out the Madi who is feeling kinda poorly. I Hope you feel better very very soon.

Today is Blog Hop Wednesday so join me in

Lazy Dog Lazy Saturday

Haha - Gotcha! I was NOT a lazy dog at all! I WENT to the Lazy Dog Restaurant with Mommy and Auntie B. You know me - I loves loves loves to spent time with Auntie B no matter when or where. So when Mom latched on my Kurgo harness and said we were visiting Auntie B, I got all happy. Dancy HAPPY.

We said on the patio which is enclosed and shaded. It was lovely. I do wish the Humans had been able to sit at the LOWER tables. I don't like it when all I can reach is Mommy's ankles. I tried to be good and not jump. The waiter brought me a bowl of water, which was nice. Some places only have community water bowls and I do NOT like shared water. There is also a pup menu but Mommy said no way Noodles. She thinks I need to lose some weight. She says the peaches are making me fat. AS IF!!!

So many people came up to Mommy and asked if they could PET me. Many also had pugs or have family members with PUGS. Once you are OWNED by a pug, you can't go back to other dogs, hehheh. I am very friendly so Mommy always says yes to adults and takes the time to help little humans be gentle with me. It is important to teach children good pet manners.

So I was ROCKIN' the vibe at the Lazy Dog Restaurant and was catching some Zzzzzzs when I heard the rustle and click of Mommy's phone. I knew she was taking a picture of me so I raised my head and posed. I THOUGHT that was what I was supposed to do - but she wanted a picture of my snoozing. Ha! Humans . . . I can never figure them out.

We were there a good long while and then Mommy had to get back home. We RELUCTANTLY said ciao to Auntie B and headed over the hill. It was such a wonderful way to spent the early afternoon.

Sunshine Speaks!!!! #chewyinfluencer

Here in Casa de Noodles, we like to give everyone a chance to try something new from Chewy.com and talk about it. This time it is Sunshine's turn. Usually she tells me what she thinks about a product and I write a review. But this time (and it has happened a couple of times in the past with mixed outcomes) I decided to let Sunshine write her own post about Purina Pro Plan Savor Adult Crunchy Bites with Real Chicken Cat Treats

********************************************************************************

A-hem. Hello dear ones. Sunshine the Cat here to expound on the glories of Purina Pro Plan Savor Adult Crunchy Bites with Real Chicken Cat Treats. They are indeed a treat worth spending my valuable time talking about. They are good. . . they are crunchy. . . they have a rich chickeny flavor augmented by vegetables (which I can do without, if you ask me) like carrot, tomatoes and peas. I find they are wonderful as appetizers or even as an apres dinner treat. They just add that je ne sais quoi to an otherwise adequate meal.

You're welcome

*******************************************************************************

Well. . . I, um . . . She walked away after PRETENDING to drop a mike. What can I say? Cats are like that. Huh. . . . well let me give you a little more information about the Purina Pro Plan Savor Adult Crunchy Bites with Real Chicken Cat Treats that you can find at Chewy.com along with 9 other flavors and formulas. They appeal to a Cat's sense of taste and smell. And I can say from PUGSONAL experience that dogs like them too.

Pro Plan treats were created to provide tasty AND healthy treats for cats. In Sunshine's case, she needs a little extra TLC from her treats because she is 14 now and that is OLD. So the Pro Plan Crunchy Bites
  • Maintain Complete and Balances nutrition that is so important for older cats
  • Are made from REAL chicken and chicken flavoring to up the smell and flavor appeal
  • Have no artificial colorings, flavorings or preservatives which can harm an older cat's delicate system
  • Are fortified with vitamins and minerals that food alone might not supply
  • Have a density and crunchiness that is just right for a kitty
The ingredients are:
Chicken Meal, Brewers Rice, Animal Fat Preserved with Mixed-Tocopherols (Form of Vitamin E), Corn Gluten Meal, Natural Flavor, Chicken, Malt Extract, Phosphoric Acid, Calcium Carbonate, Potassium Chloride, Brewers Dried Yeast, Salt, Dried Carrots, Dried Tomatoes, Dried Peas, Choline Chloride, Vitamin E Supplement, Taurine, Zinc Sulfate, Ferrous Sulfate, Niacin, Manganese Sulfate, Citric Acid, Vitamin A Supplement, Calcium Pantothenate, Thiamine Mononitrate, Riboflavin Supplement, Copper Sulfate, Vitamin B-12 Supplement, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Folic Acid, Vitamin D-3 Supplement, Calcium Iodate, Biotin, Menadione Sodium Bisulfite Complex (Source of Vitamin K Activity), Sodium Selenite.

So in terms of a good-for-them treat, Purina's Pro Plan meets all criteria. And as I always say - a treat, no matter how healthy - is worth nothing if the pet won't eat it. We all MEOW for these flavorful crunchy treats. Hey!!! It's fair. Sunshine gets our treats as well (especially the freeze dried chicken which is like a drug to her).

Go to Chewy.com and pick a flavor and formula that best suits the kitty in your family. I don't believe you will be disappointed.

We give Purina Pro Plan Savor Adult Crunchy Bites with Real Chicken Cat Treats 12 Paws Up.

*We were supplied by Chewy.com free of charge enough product (one bag) to test, taste and develop and opinion of the product. We have not been told what to say or paid to say anything - every word and opinion is ours alone.
