The Changing of the Seasons, California Style

This picture is totally irrelevant to the
discussion of the day

FALL will arrive this weekend. For the most part it feels less and less like summer to me. Even though we have had some days where the temps soared above 90 degrees - somewhere in the background it still feels like Fall.

I kinda like FALL because it is usually cool enough for me to go for walkies - while the sun is still up. In the summer, my walks tend to be just after dawn or just before DARK. Not the funnest times to walk. . . at least for Mommy they aren't. But in Fall, the moderate temps and cool breezes make daytime walks a pleasure.

I live in a very temperate zone for weather. Northern California, SF Bay Area, enjoys mild temps all year-round and the SUN is almost always shining down on us. We have rain, but not generally for long periods of time and NOTHING compared to some places. You know what I mean, those of you who are living in other parts of the country/world.

This is not to say we do not have seasons. We have Winter when it is gray (sky and hills); Spring when it is green everywhere; Summer when the grasses in the hills become golden; and Fall when the hills become gray again and the trees lose their leaves. And a lot of the trees provide bursts of color before they lose their leaves.

Yes, I am looking forward to FALL and all of the smells, sounds (HOCKEY IS BACK), and fun stuff to do.

P.S. These are all OLD photos of
me. I need to talk to my
photographer AGAIN!

We live in the capital of CA, and we know how the seasons work here. Sunshine or grey, very hot or very nice. We too, are ready for fall and taking walks in crisp, cool air.

I'm totally looking forward to the return of Fall too Noodles! I like going to the dog park when there's still daylight, not when it's getting dark! WooHoo for Fall! Hehe, I was going to say, wow your trees are dropping early!

SlimDoggy is in SoCal and we are perfectly happy with our weather when compared to the North East where we grew up! No excuses for us to miss our runs or workouts-- it is always workout weather!

it annoys me when people say we don't have seasons here in cali, or that we're always sunny and never get rain. we DO have seasons and we DO get rain. thanks for explaining our seasons to the non-believers. BOL

I totally forgot that fall is coming- where has time gone?
I hope you have the most beautiful fall ever! Will you have lots of leaves falling?
And thank you for the love you sent to me- and good wishes for me to heal.

I can't believe the Summer is almost over. I do love fall though, too. I'm glad to hear you'll be able to go on walks during the waking hours now, Noodles. No more pug zombie going for morning walks at 5:30am. :)
