On BEING and BEHAVING

Or - can a lively PUG find HAPPINESS and BEHAVE at the same time?

According to my PAWrents:                                According to ME
Behave = Happiness                                           Food = Happiness

There seems to be a disconnect here.

So it looks to me like if you behave and make the humans happy, they give you food.
Sounds like a pretty tough deal. Hope the payoff is worth it.

No disconnect, just a case of a missing equation.

Behave + Food(treats) = Happiness

All you have to do is teach them that if they want behavior they must pay the price with treats. Then everyone is happy.

Payton said I was especially difficult to train. I explained it was my military training. I expect good behavior, it shouldn't be rewarded. But, I came around after a few well-timed Jimmys and drooping tail slow walks away from me. No Oscar winner could do it any better!

@Payton's Gampy - you are so wise. I am gonna try and train my 'rents as well. It will be hard . . . good behavior is NOT second nature for me as I possess FREE WILL, according to Mommy #1. But for TREATS, I will try.

Just look at that face - how can they not give you food/treats!?

We have our pawrents trained pretty well - Dad gives us some of his food which makes Mama mad! But Mama gives us lots of treats and Dad gets mad because he says she buys too many treats. Of course, if you ask us we never get enough of either!

It's hard to be good - we try. Really we do! Maybe if we got more treats ...

I concur. Who could resist such a sweet face?!?!?!?
Gampy......such a wise guy....I mean that in the most sincere way, not the 3 stooges kind of way. :D
It's in my nature to totally behave, so I can't be much help in this area. Sorry.

Gampy said it all, we really have no other comment to add. OK, other than, we can't believe anyone could resist such cuteness!

We sense Pug world domination coming on.

My mom is Italian and she says food is happiness....well that and a giant mouse she keeps visiting without me. A wise woman once said a way to a pugs heart is through its stomach.

As long as the food goes with behaving than everyone is happy!

Good luck Noodles!

I can only speak for myself. Happiness never comes from behaving. I'm a bad bad girl.

Just make sure you behave when the 'rents are looking (you'll usually get a treat). As for the times when they're not looking...well...a pug's gotta do what a pug's gotta do.
