I had a little Anxiety episode last night. At first it really didn't seem like much more than a normal evening. But as the evening wore on, I became more and more agitated. I was barking at every little thing and I was chasing Molly every time she came near me. Then I started panting A LOT and couldn't sit still. Everybody was yelling at me to calm down (except Mommy #2 who told them I was anxious for some reason).
Finally Mommy put me on time out for my own good. She said I needed to be away from the action (our house can be kinda loud and crazy sometimes with 6 humans, 1 dog and 1 pug, a cat, and 2 birds) so I could calm down. She took me to our bedroom where my pen and bed are set up. She gave me a hug and left (of course she left the light on for me, too). Then she closed the door. I barked a while because I really was not happy being shut off from everyone like that; PLUS Molly had free reign of the house while I was confined. I gave it up pretty quickly since it was evident that Mommy was NOT going to let me out right away.
Within 10 minutes I quieted down, curled up in my bed, and enjoyed the quiet. It was very relaxing, I have to admit and I found my anxiety fading away. I really cannot tell you what had me so wired up but I am glad it went away. Mommy is wise, like that.
Do you have a special routine that your 'rents have for when you seem anxious and out of sorts?

yes my worse anxiety moments are when i think someone else might get food and i won't...mom says i turn into a high anxiety tazmainan devil and i don't even know how crazy i get till it is over. Sometimes i go a long time without having a episode and sometimes a have several in one week. it just depends on the air i am breathing at the moment..lol....
i like to have a break from our house sometimes also.

Sometimes when I (Frankie Furter) want some TIME to MYSELF... I just do downstairs to the DARK BEDROOM and get away from it all.
I have anxious times pretty often myself. Mommy holds me and sometimes I get an all natural calming chew and that helps. It is a very hard job taking care of my family. I understand how you feel. I guess we need to learn to chill.

Howdy Noodles, sometimes when I get crazy with energy and start bossing Rory around (he needs it of course) I get sent outside ON MY OWN! I settle down pretty quick cause I want to come inside again. I think mum is a mean bean but sadly, sigh, she is the boss (except when I'm the boss hehehe). No worries, and love, Stella and Rory
P.S. Our vote goes to Sarge butt, we love everybuddy.
I sleep through anything but my sissy, Annie, has an anxiety attack when the wind blows. And if it looks like rain, watch out. She gets under Mommy's bed and won't come out for hours.

When it all gets too much for me I go into my "under the corner table cave" where I can watch everything but not be seen...Momz knows not to bother me there ... I'm voting for Hazel today :)
Noodles, I hope you have an anxiety free weekend!

Mom does the same thing to me too Noodles. Maybe it's a pug thing. When I'm breathing hard or anxious or itchy and won't calm down, she puts me in her room and I get to sleep on her big bed. And I may not like it much being away from everyone else, but what do ya know, I calm down and rest and then later she lets me out. Those Moms sure can be smart sometimes.

I'm sorry to hear about your anxiety attack, Noodles. I'm glad you were able to relax a little when you had a break from the chaos.
I usually ask for a KONG when I'm feeling stressed. It helps me take my mind off my troubles.
-Love,
Sid.
