Our Backyard

Me and Molly love our backyard. It is big and filled with some awesome plants and fruits. This time is year, especially, the apricot tree is beginning to drop its luscious orbs of sweetness. I can sit under the tree for HOURS noshing on apricots. I WOULD, too, if the Mommys had not put up a fence to keep us out. Now I only get to explore back there if Mommy is picking apricots off the tree. She shares with me -but it is not the same thing AT ALL.

We also have strawberries and when they are ripe I can stand on my tippy toes and snag a berry or two. That is heaven in a mouthful, I tell you.

We go out when Mommy is watering - early in the morning so it does not evaporate too much. We wander to our favorite spots and also tell Mommy if someplace is being NEGLECTED a little. Last week we alerted the HUMANS to the presence of a WOODPECKER! It was a beautiful bird - blue and gray and almost half the size of Molly!!! But they do a lot of damage to houses and since we just endured a WEEK of painters, we did NOT want any house damage.

This is not our yard but is the best pic of our pool.

We have a little pool (pictured above) and we use it a lot when the weather turns hot. Let me clarify here - I USED IT a lot. Molly does not like getting her paws wet overmuch. Me? I love love love it. I can spend all day standing in the pool cooling off. It sits under the apple tree and later in the summer I am not above reaching overhead and plucking a sweet apple from the low hanging branches.

It really is a marvelous place. I think I'll stop here and wander out there RIGHT NOW.

Noodles, your backyard sounds like heaven! It's a shame your mom put up that fence though. I used to live in a house that had a fig tree in the backyard and I used to snarf down on figs until I couldn't see straight. But then my dad found out and put up a fence around it. Those humans - always thwarting our amazing plans! Also, glad to see you are staying cool in your pool!

-Love,
Sid.

Noodles you and I are sisters from another mother, I also love our back yard because we have a crab apple tree and as they fall I scoop them up even when they are mushy...yummy, and of course strawberries are to die for but I am afraid ours come from the store, or stands along the highway.....Dad feeds the birds so they are often in the birdbaths and staying on top of Alcatraz yelling down at me, along with the 3 squirrels that live here. it is a busy life I tell you. I also weigh around what you do, it seems as long as mom stays on my diet I weight around 16 lbs. which is good cos I am short.

OMG, my Mom would DEFINITELY have to put up a fence for me as well. As it is, she planted pole green beans so I can't eat them off the bush any more. :(

why do they feel the need to fence us off from the goodies. Dad does the same thing with his tomatoes. But Hazel would eat them all if we let her
