Sweater Day - or How I Can Save Mother Earth

DATELINE: February 17, 2011 -
I, Noodles the Pug, was resting comfortably in my crate next to the heater grate. Ah, this is the life, I thought - as warm air wafted over my head. I have no care in the world. I want for nothing.
But there was something bothering me and I could not put my paw on it - something so profound that it would take a special dog - such as myself - to figure it out. That something is a theme I have only touched on here and there in my Blogworld. That something is APPRECIATION.
How can I show my appreciation for all I have and to WHO or WHAT?
Then it dawned on me what I could do to show my appreciation for all I have - I could GIVE BACK in little ways. And to WHO? Why Mother Earth, that's who. Just like my two Mommys, I want Mother Earth to live forever and be healthy forever.
As a little pug, I am limited on what I can do - but I am giving it my all beginning today - Winston's International Sweater Day in conjunction with the Canadian World Wildlife Fund's Sweater Day. It is really simple - all Sweater Day means is
  • turn down our heaters by THREE DEGREES
  • wear SWEATERS when indoors to keep warm
(I just got an ADORABLE Martha Stewart Barn Sweater that I am totally loving.)
I bet you are thinking What Difference Will One Little (BUT CUTE) Pug Make in the GRAND SCHEME of things.
A lot - look at all that our DEAR STUBBY accomplished while he was alive. He made a DIFFERENCE because he believed he COULD!
And we all can too.
Imagine all of the gas and electricity that could be saved if we all use less. And how much cleaner and happier Mother Earth will be.
It's WORTH the sacrifice to me.

My heater is never over 65 in the day and 67 at night. We wear sweaters in our house!

Good for you, Noodles, for pointing this out to everyone in the memory of Stubby!!

(and you look ADORABLE in your pink sweater!!)

Hey Noddles,
What a well written press release. Your words are so true - YOU may only be one (very cute) little Pug, but by setting an example and getting the word out, you can inspire others to follow in your (and Stubby's) footsteps and do their part to give back to Mother Earth.

And I have to say, what a pretty sweater. You can't go wrong with Martha Stewart. I'm sporting a pink sweater too today, but it pales in comparison to yours.

Bundled in sweaters and blankets,
Sabrina

Oh Noodles, you look soooo cute in your sweater! I am so glad you are participating in sweater day! It's more of a sacrifice for you than it is for me, since it's not cold here right now!

Thanks for complimenting my fashion sense. My wardrobe designer goes by the stage name of 'Momma' and she got my sweater from a very fancy line called 'The Limited'. :)

I love the Mother Earth thingy you have come up with!!! We keep our furnie waaaaay down and use the woodburner... that may be a bit smokey fur the air...butt it is a renewable resource and saves the propane stuffs.
I am soooooo very much proud to know somebuddy who is taking care of our planet!!!
YOU are the best!!!!

Hi Noodles,

You look adorable in your sweater.

Since the weather has been so nice here, Mom hasn't had the heater on. So to help the environment, I suggested turning off lights when leaving the room and don't let the water run while brushing teeth. Its a start, every little bit helps.

Hugs,
Suki

We should totally share wardrobes. We all love pink! Except Isabelle, she prefers red but will wear pink if she has to.

It was warm here today so the heat didn't come on, but we do everything we can to conserve energy. Mom's a nerd like that. She and Stubby would have gotten along great.

Noodles
This is one of the most beautiful posts that I ever did read. You have a way of talking and sharing and saying what is on your heart. And you know what,,,, I feel those words too, but I could not find the words. Thank you for speaking out. Thank you for sitting beside us on this day as we also remember Stubby.
And you little Noodles are too cute for words..
Your Martha Stewart sweater is beautiful
