Normally I take it all with a smile on my face . . .

Sad, sad, sad. . .

PRAYERS for Boston and the victims of the Boston Marathon Bombings and their families. Normally something like this makes me sad for a moment and glad that I am fine. But this morning I could not - CAN NOT - shake the feeling of sadness this bombing has settled on me.

My cousin E has a track coach who was running the marathon yesterday. She is safe and home again. She was already over the finish line when the bomb went off.
My Mommy #2 has a dear dear friend whose daughter attends college near the bombing site. She is also fine but what a scary few hours until she could leave the building she was in!

I am so grateful they are both safe and healthy. But oh. . . . so much tragedy.

SOAPBOX Alert

So I wonder. What goes on in the mind of someone who would do this? If it is for a cause - why target innocent people? If it is for notoriety - why not target yourself? As a pug, I guess I am prone to look for the happy solution - the Utopian ideal.

HAPPY THOUGHT OF THE DAY: This is hard because of what happened. I think the happiest thought I have today is this - I am happy being safely in the loving arms of my family.

There is no comprehension why someone would do such a horrible act. We also are happy to be safe with our family and sending prayers for the victims of this tragedy.

Aw, Noodles...it is very hard to even think about why certain people are just innately bad! :-( I have no clue what goes through someone's head...especially on such a joyous athletic occasion! I'm glad all of your friends are safe though!! Snuggle with your family girl!

If dogs ran the world, things would be so much simpler. Humanity has the capacity for such great evil, it's just scary. But I comfort myself by knowing that they also have the capacity for such great good. The really cool thing, though, is that the great evil usually brings the great good out stronger than ever before.

WE like our family philosophy... out of every BAD thing... GOOD things come.

For the one or two who did that awful thing... there were HUNDREDS who were there lending a hand. THAT is what we are gonna focus on.

The person responsible for this has never truly experienced kindness and love. If they understood love, they would understand compassion. Not just for those around them, but for all the world. That's why we focus on being kind and showing compassion to people. That's what we can do. Let the light of love brighten the darkness. If we could all do that, think of the amazing things we could accomplish! We never know if a smile or a kind word to a stranger could change their mind just a little.
