This is my FURiend Max. He is my Auntie B's grandfurbaby. He looks pretty docile, huh? On a NORMAL day, he is pretty mellow and not too adventurous.
Well that was NOT the case YESTERDAY when Max decided to go on an adventure. Here's what happened.
It all started when Auntie B pulled out of the garage and headed to work. She petted Max and sent him to his pillow in the garage, like she always does. Then she pulled out of the garage - and once she was out she closed the garage door. Nothing too amazing with that, huh?
Only YESTERDAY, apparently Max had different ideas and BEFORE the garage door closed, he snuck out and stood in the shadows. What happened next is unknown because it was a while before the neighbor across the cul-de-sac spotted him. She was out in the yard with her grandkids who she was watching when she spotted Max laying in Auntie B's front yard. She knew no one was home and thought it very odd that Max was outside. So she attempted to corral him and put him in the yard. Max KNOWS her and likes her AND her grandkids.
But Max was having NONE of that! He was OUT and that was all there was to it. He made it clear when he sidled away whenever the neighbor attempted to get closer to him. At one point, MAX sauntered out of the cul-de-sac and wandered down the street to the tennis courts where he and Auntie B play catch. The neighbor and kids followed him (they made a game out of it) to make sure he was okay.
This went on ALL DAY with him going between the cul-de-sac and the park. Finally, the neighbor called Auntie B's husband to come and corral MAX. For his own safety, mind you. The neighborhood is very very quiet during the day but once work is done, people rush through on their way to their homes. Then it would be very dangerous for a dog to be wandering around off-leash.
When Auntie B got home, Max was just being put back into the yard. She was shocked and AMAZED that Max took off like that - and very very grateful that he was okay.
It is nice that the neighbor cared enough to keep an eye out for him.
