Dental Health is SOOO Important - Product Review for Chewy.com

As well all know, dental health is so important for the overall well being of pets. My Mommys (and Molly's as well) try so hard to keep our pearly whites . . . uh . . . pearly white with daily (attempts at) brushing. But it doesn't always go as planned. Little dogs, like Molly and myself, are prone to poor teeth and dental problems. Ask any pug owner and they will tell you the same.

But we try, nonetheless. One way to help clean our teeth is by using dental chews and chewy things like Bully Sticks (from which I have been banned - but that is a whole 'nother tale). There is a problem with some dental chews as well - some simply do not digest well and cause intestinal blockage in some small dogs. In addition, for me anyhow, the small dog ones are two-biters which offer none of the chewing benefits and the large ones are too large.

So when Chewy.com offered a variety of dental treats for the February offering, we said WHY NOT! And we chose a product we had never tried before -

We liked that the product was from a company even our DOGter approves of (he carries a full line of Science Diet products). Plus they kinda looked funner than the others - I can't say why, It was a GUT feeling. So we told Ms. Sydney from Chewy.com what we were interested in and she sent them out LICKETY split. We had our TESTER PACKAGE in 2 days. What service.

We could smell the deliciousness through all of the packaging (Mommy says we only THOUGHT we could smell it as everything was well sealed). I am embarrassed to admit, we made IDIOTS of ourselves trying to open the sealed box, rifle through the packaging paper, and RIP the hermetically sealed packaging. When we did, we were pleasantly surprised - the ODOR of the dental chews was even better than we initially thought it was.

Mommy ordered the medium dog size to see if perhaps I would get more than 2 chews from the treat and she is right. It lasts me AT LEAST 5 minutes as opposed to the usual 30 seconds of small dog chews. Molly, however, needs it cut in half otherwise SHE CLAIMS it is just too much.

One of the reasons these treats are so good it they contain REAL FOOD! I cannot emphasize enough how important this is in taste, freshness, and overall healthiness of a treat. Look at what these Hills Science Diet Dental Chews contain

Potato Flour, Rice Flour, Water, Glycerin, Peas, Technical Pork Gelatin, Pork Gelatin, Sunflower Oil, Carrots, Calcium Carbonate, Flaxseed, Natural Chicken Flavor, Chicken, Parsley, Pumpkin, Zinc Propionate, Citric Acid added to retain freshness

Pretty impressive, huh? We like them so much we HAVE to have them after every meal. Huh? Oh, right. . . Mommy reminded me that I TRIED to get them after every meal but SHE decided once a day was plenty for any PUG. It provides a good amount of chew to help clean tarter off teeth and not too many wasted calories which my waistline simply does not need/

And they really do perform as advertised

  • Freshens your dog's breath
  • Great taste and great nutrition
  • No corn, artificial colors or flavors
  • Recommended for adult and mature dogs
  • Made in the USA

We were not paid for this review nor were we told what to write for this review. All of the observations and opinions are from ONE PUG and ONE MALTY MIX alone without outside influence. We received free of charge one bag of Hills Science Diet Dental Chews in order to test the product.
