Lost and Found and Fun

The talented Cousin E made my hat

Did you notice I went all missing on Friday? I hadn't planned to but, you know, life! This was a very IMPORTANT weekend because my Mommy #1 turned TWENTY-ONE years old. She really did. And that is Cause for a big celebration. Mommy #2 and I were very very BUSY getting things prepared for her celebration. Oh - no. She was NOT having a PAWty. I am afraid that turning 21 is when you celebrate with your FRIENDS and not your mom and dog. It was hard to accept. But, you know . . .

BUT we did have a FAMILY DINNER to celebrate. It included my Cousins E&C and Cousin E's fiance J. It also included Aunts B&T and, of course Mommy #2. The HUMANS went out for dinner and then brought BUNDT cakes home for the candle blowing.

I was so happy for Mommy #1. I only wish I could have stayed with her at university. She didn't think it would work out this time. It is a touchy situation because I am not her official comfort pet. If I were then I could go pretty much everywhere with her and when she needs to calm down (she gets anxious) I'd be there. HOWEVER, the school year is still young.

HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY MOMMY. I loves loves loves you so MUCH!

Molly no longer needs to wear a protective collar - plastic or flower - because today she got her stitches out. She is doing great. It turns out they also removed this rather large fatty tumor she had on her chest along with half a pound of bladder stones. She dropped over half a pound in weight right after the surgery! But she is doing great and TOMORROW she gets a bath. This may not be the most exciting thing to her, but for the rest of us - believe me it is.

We are so happy MY VET came through and took care of her problem. Molly is a much happier puppy now.

Me? I am just trying to figure out what to do next. I have so much I WANT to accomplish today, but it is MONDAY and you know how that goes. Maybe I will take a mini nap and think on it. Yes, that seems like a good idea.

I Need Some New Photos and Other Thoughts

The LADY is slacking off. I demand more new photos of ME and here we are recycling them over and over. It has been almost ONE FULL WEEK since the camera was pointed my way. That will NOT do.

So Let's see what's new. Molly is all better. She gets her stitches out next week. She is all HAPPY and stuff, though, which you can tell in the spring in her step. She has a smile on her face almost all the time. She had so many stones in her little bladder that she just did not feel too well most of the time. And, I remind you, that was almost a full HALF POUND of stones she had taken out. No one was the wiser about those awful stones because her weight never even fluctuated. That was a surprise we could do without.

Mommy #1 is gone back to university. She and Mommy #2 spend all day last Friday packing all of her stuff into Pugsley (the car) and taking it over to her suite. Her suite is more like an apartment than a dorm, BTW. I couldn't go because there wasn't really any room for me in the car (even Mommy's lap was full); but also they determined I might be a distraction. NEVER!

I am kind of sad without Mommy #1 around. Yes, I am lucky because I have Mommy #2 and I do adore her. BUT it isn't the same and all summer I was so happy to have 2 Mommys to cuddle between.

Sun's in my eyes!

Baseball season is winding down. Mommy #2 and Aunt T on Sunday went to the last Oakland As home game for the season. They had fun but the team LOST and that was quite sad. I theorize they lost because they were sad the regular season is coming to an end. This Sunday is the SF Giants' last home game of the season. That will be even SADDER because it is the last home game for Bochy. We sure have enjoyed his time with the club. No one can compare to what he brought to the club. I know I will miss him.

Vlasic and his FurBabies

But you know what baseball season ending means? YES Hockey returns!!! Mommy #1, Aunt T and Cousin C went to a player meet and autograph event last night. They got signatures of ALL (but one) of my favorite players. I am MOST excited about Captain Couture. He is one of my fave players. Then I also really love M.E. Vlasic because it is a well known fact that he LOVES his DOGS!!!. He does a lot for the PETS of Silicon Valley.

AND HAPPY TONGUE OUT TUESDAY

I Guess It's Obvious I am Having a Monday

These are my HALLOWEEN Power Paws. Aren't they
super? I twisted them a little but they stayed on.
I guess you can tell by the fact it is ELEVENTY BILLION O'Clock that I am having a MONDAY. It has not been smooth. Not bad but not smooth.

As a result I have not written this POST and I have nothing nice to say.

So I will wait and post something meaningful tomorrow.

OH BY THE WAY

Molly is doing GREAT and is back to her normal self, except for the spontaneous peeing. She gives the HUMOMS plenty of notice now.

Molly Goes to the Vet - MY Vet - and the Outcome

This is a Cone of Shame which looks like a
flower. This one is too big for Molly

Molly has been acting a little under the weather for a while now. Not anything alarming, but not her normal good-girl self. You see. . . she was . . . peeing in the house! This is not her normal thing at all. But at the beginning of summer, it was becoming more so. She IS getting older so the huMOMs thought perhaps it was just a middle age thing. So when Mommy made the Chewy.com order, she included poochie panties for incontinence. Those are also known as DIAPERS.

But THEN my Mommy #2 noticed her pee was darker than it should be. WAY TOO dark. So she told Molly's Mommy (Aunt B) that perhaps she needed to see the dogter. They suspected a UTI even though Molly had been checked a couple of times for the same thing. But it was a few days later that Molly started panting and wandering around like she was in some pain and couldn't get comfortable. That was very worrying behavior and so she went to see her VET the next day.

Molly nervously waiting to see the dogter

The dogter felt around her tummy and went "Hmmmmm. Hmmmmm" and then she said they needed to do an Xray on her tummy. That TRAN$LATE$ into major funding. But her Mommy said "go for it" and they waited for the results. The results were not good - Molly had a significant amount of STONES in her bladder. I am so puzzled by this because (1) Molly NEVER eats stones and (2) how'd they get THERE??? That has not yet been answered, btw.

The dogter said she needed surgery but they don't do it at her vet hospital. They gave Molly's mommy some names of vets who do. But I raised my PAW really high and suggested MY VET. I know they do surgeries because they have done one on ME! Remember my nose growth and fold reconstruction? Yep. they did it and it looks great - SEE

My Mommy called the vet and made arrangements to take Molly in for consultation the SAME DAY! How cool is that. MY DOGTER came to the same conclusion and felt the surgery should be sooner the better as she was already in some pain. He had a traveling surgeon coming in that day and PERHAPS he could do it the same day. The PLUS was the kind of surgery she needed was his specialty. IF NOT, the surgery could still be done there but the next morning when the other dogter was in as he is the surgeon.

WELL - the traveling surgeon was able to take her and she had the surgery Monday afternoon. By Monday evening, she was home, groggy but otherwise fine. She is doing okay, moving slowly and occasionally whining. She had more than a DOZEN stones in her bladder - a few were about 1" in diameter! Poor thing! They sent the stones out to be analyzed so they have a clearer idea of the cause. In the meantime she is on some yucky prescription food. You know it is bad if I say it is YUCKY. I'd still eat it, mind you; but I do think it YUCKY.

Nerves

Her convalescence is about 3 weeks long since this was major surgery. She will likely be up and running way before then and the stitches come out in 14 days. But she will definitely recover 100% from this adventure.

Beach Babe Returns

My NEW Chewy.com Box Bed

AS you all know, my huMom #1 abandoned me ALL WEEKEND for the beach. She went with Auntie B and they are both Beach Babes. They cannot get enough of the coastline. Mommy says it is so relaxing and beautiful there. And the smell of the salt air is intoxicating. I can see that. It is a magnificent place.

They stayed in a small cottage located a small ways from the beach itself. Mommy and Auntie B love this place because for them the location is perfect! Walking distance to the beach AND the ice cream store.

They took it easy A LOT which is unusual for them as they go-go-go all day every day. They especially made sure they took some time out to watch the sunset. The weather was perfect all weekend, Mommy said.

Sunset first night - this day was hot which shows
in the bright reds of sky

Look at the waves here! Awesome

There are 2 "birds" in this shot. One on the rail and one made
of clouds
They also attend the Capitola Art and Wine festival which is world renown. It was very crowded and quite warm. They saw everything there was to see and really enjoyed it. Mommy said there were a lot of dogs there and she sort of felt guilty not having me there as well. But since it was hot, she knows I could not have handled it so well.

I was quite happy at home with Mommy #1. She spent a lot of time with me because she is still not feeling 100% (she has a cold) and that meant a lot of cuddle time for me. When we were not cuddling, though, I sat guard at the front door waiting for Mommy #2 to return. It seemed like forever before she did.

Come home soon, Mommy

HALF Abandoned

Look at this adorable PUG MUG. Would you EVER abandon it? EVER? Well, it is about to get abandoned by HALF of my Mommys this weekend. It's true and I can hardly believe it.

I was suspicious when Mommy #2 did ALL of her laundry MID-WEEK. She normally waits until Friday when her laundry bag is burgeoning. The ONLY time she ever does a small load is when she is going somewhere OVERNIGHT and AWAY from home. That was CLUE #1.

Then I overheard her talking with Aunts T and B about weekend plans and she WON'T be here to make dinner and watch for packages. . . that kind of mundane stuff she does all day, every day.

Then this morning, Mommy #2 pulled out her BEACH CHAIR and umbrella. She also got a bag for keeping food chilled. Now I know where she is going

It is her favorite place - the beach. She and Auntie B are going for TWO nights. Unfortunately, the place they are renting does not allow pets. If they did, I would TOTALLY be going because we all know I love love love the BEACH.

I understand and I will miss her a lot. BUT it is only for 2 nights and it will give me that much MORE time with Mommy #1 before she heads off to university at the end of next week. It has happened all too fast, you know. I got so used to spending my evenings with her while Mommy #1 worked. Sigh.

The MOST Important Thing to ME

Ummm - is that MY foot sticking out of that
pillow, and why does it look so unconnected?

I have been thinking.
I have been thinking long.
I have been thinking HARD.

I realize.
There are some things Important to me.
There are some things that AREN'T.
There are somethings I need.
There are somethings I WANT.

So what do I do about it?

Well . . .
I bark when I need to go out.
I bark when I want to eat.
I bark when I am scared.
I bark when I am playing.
I bark when I tell my story.

It seems to me. . .
My HUMANS do NOT understand what I want. They do not hear the NUANCES in my bark. I totally know how GROOT feels.

Therefore, here are things that are important to me so my huMOMMYS kinda know - or have a ballpark idea - of what I need

  • Regular meals
  • TREATS
  • Regular Cuddles
  • TREATS
  • Scheduled bidness breaks
  • TREATS
  • To feel safe
  • TREATS

I am pretty sure TREATS will cover all situations.

I've Got a Pocket, a Pocketful of Sunshine . . .

My Pocket of Sunshine

Natasha Bedingfield was on the Today Show this morning. Mommy says her hit song is not an EAR WORM. Not sure what that is but is sounds painful. Since Mommy is a BIG SHARER, you are welcome. It is now YOUR ear worm.

I Am On Top of it NOW - Tongue Out Tuesday, Y'all!

Guess what happened? Mommy was able to do TWO never been done before - or at least seldom done so -

ONE - She captured photos of MY TONGUE making an appearance. And they are pretty clear, although a little over exposed.

TWO - If you look hard you will see my never been seen before TEETH. I am very effective at hiding them but there they are for all to see.

I gotta admit, I look pretty cute with my wonderfully curly tongue peaking out of my smile. It is a well known fact that my smile is amazing.

Here is another angle and another shape. My TONGUE looks like an M or a seagull. It is one of my very special talents.

I think every tongue ESSAY needs a PROFILE photo as well. Here is mine with a charming couple of visible teeth on the right.

It has been my immense pleasure to join in TONGUE OUT TUESDAY and to let you in on the little secret called MY TEETH.

Seems a whole weekend went by and I was unaware of it. What to do. What to do?

It seems I need to regroup and revisit my plans for today. I'll get backatcha.

Thursday Thoughts

Forgive the OVERUSE of this photo.
Mommy #2 is obsessed with it

So. . . . . . .

I really had no idea what I was going to write about today. It is Thursday, which is a not too exciting kind of day. It is early September so there are no monumental season changes going on. And it is mid-day so no one but Mommy #2 is home with us. That means there is no drama to speak of.

But it also means I am alone-ish with my thoughts - and I have plenty, believe me.

Like

=>  Why does our BIRD, Jade, always have to "sing" during the most intense scenes on television? It is a for sure thing that he (or she, we don't know) will sing the ARIA to end all ARIAS just when the whole PLOT is revealed. That means none of us ever really knows what happened.

=>  It is a rule in this house that one must DO HER BIDNESS prior to getting breakfast. So. . . . Why does Molly go "out" before breakfast and then IMMEDIATELY has to go out again once she finished breakfast? I am thinking she is FAKING it the first time. What do you think? For the record, I never fake it. I might not go all the way outside, but I do something.

=>  Why do the humans get ALL EXCITED about a game. ANY game, really, but mostly sports. They cheer, get angry, cry, and so on. All in the course of one game. What is up with that. Give me something MORE IMPORTANT to get all that emotional about - like an extra TREAT or something.

=>  Why does MORE food NOT fall on the floor when Mommy cooks? I mean, I am standing RIGHT there to pick up the pieces - and yet, she drops little to nothing. And she stands RIGHT up to the counter to prevent anything from rolling off the counter. What's with that? Is there something WRONG with a little sharing?

=> Is there ANYTHING more fun than getting a PACKAGE in the mail? I get very excited when it is something for me. Mommys 1 and 2 get GIDDY when a package arrives for them. I mean, it really is the coolest thing, right?

=>  Why does the full MOON make humans AND animals crazy. It is a real thing. I see it all the time and I just have no idea why it happens to be true. Not me, of course. I am perfectly normal ALL THE TIME.

That's all for right now. I know I will have plenty more to puzzle over since it is only Thursday - and as such not much is happeneing . . . as I said before.

Spending Time Outdoors With My Mommys

Over the LONNNNNG Labor Day weekend, myself and my Mommys attempted to SELL some surplus in what many call a GARAGE sale (but no garage is involved other than cleaning it) or a YARD sale. It doesn't matter what the name is - it is basically using your yard as retail space.

Mommy #2 had vowed some time back that she would NEVER have another yard sale. Too much work for TOO little reward. Well, she did it anyhow and what happened? She estimates she made MAYBE $1 an hour AND ended taking the majority of the stuff to the Salvation Army.

Hi, welcome to our yard - My name is Noodles, may I help you?

One customer, a little girl whose mother had already bought her 2 costumes, came by for another late in the day. She paid with this. We went ahead and "sold" her the costume. It made her so happy.

Abe looks a little wonky

Here is some of the stuff we were selling. There were also 3 bikes and one bunk bed. They did not sell. A lot of what you see here did not sell. Certainly not the more expensive glassware. We do not get a very sophisticated crowd. Well - we actually had no crowd at all.

A hot but wonderful day to be outside
People dribbled in to look and leave. Mostly they drove by, slowing to scope out the goods and left. Mommy #2 thinks the lack of parking on our street may have been a factor. No one walks around here. But mostly, we sat in the shade of an umbrella and enjoyed the end-of-summer sunshine (it was actually HOT this weekend).

Lack of customers gave me plenty of time to nap

All in all, it was just nice to spend time outside with my Mommys. And my Mommys enjoyed their Mommy/Daughter time as well. But they were soooooooooo TIRED when the day was done. They boxed up what didn't sell and loaded it in the car. Then they took down the gazebo and UMBRELLAS and stored them all in the shed. THEN they drove off to donate the stuff. It was a full day. By the time they came inside to relax, it was almost time for bed.

And THAT is the story of THE LAST yard sale we will EVER have.

I'm gonna HOLD you to that Mommy.
