An update on Google Friend Connect

In 2011, we announced the retirement of Google Friend Connect for all non-Blogger sites. We made an exception for Blogger to give readers an easy way to follow blogs using a variety of accounts. Yet over time, we’ve seen that most people sign into Friend Connect with a Google Account. So, in an effort to streamline, in the next few weeks we’ll be making some changes that will eventually require readers to have a Google Account to sign into Friend Connect and follow blogs.

As part of this plan, starting the week of January 11, we’ll remove the ability for people with Twitter, Yahoo, Orkut or other OpenId providers to sign in to Google Friend Connect and follow blogs. At the same time, we’ll remove non-Google Account profiles so you may see a decrease in your blog follower count.

We encourage you to tell affected readers (perhaps via a blog post), that if they use a non-Google Account to follow your blog, they need to sign up for a Google Account, and re-follow your blog. With a Google Account, they’ll get blogs added to their Reading List, making it easier for them to see the latest posts and activity of the blogs they follow.

We know how important followers are to all bloggers, but we believe this change will improve the experience for both you and your readers.

EveryPUGGY Knows Shirley - Noodles the Pug Edition

My Mommy #2 is SURPRISED to see so many bloggers using Shirley Booth for their post pics this week. I mean, she is OLD ENOUGH to remember the Shirley Booth show and she KNOWS a lot of our blogger HUparents are not so old as she.

I explained to her (for the UMPTEENTH TIME) that this really had less to do with SHIRLEY BOOTH than it did getting to know more FURiends in Blogville.

Mind you, we know A LOT of FURiends in Blogville, but there are still many more that we do not know. Lately, with Blogger apparently "cleaning house" of dead or inactive blogs, it seems even more important to reach out to everypuggy.

Part of the EVERYBODY KNOWS SHIRLEY campaign (started by our dear Stanley and Murphy) is to list some of your favorite bloggers so that YOUR readers can find them as well. It is a BLOG HOP too which is even more fun.

So get ready for my EVERYBODY KNOWS SHIRLEY list:

1. SHIRLEY everypuggy should read Two French Bulldogs. I started following them way back in the day. Everyday I would get a chuckle out of the adventure of Benny the French Bulldog. Then Lily joined the family and it was even FUNNIER! Sadly Benny developed cancer and died a few years ago - but his memory (and the blog) goes on. Nowadays the adventure are of Lily and her new(ish) brother Edward.
2. SHIRLEY everypuggy has had a comment from The Slimmer Pugs. They don't post a lot anymore since THE MAMA decided to go back to school. But they do comment a lot and if you look at your comment section, you might just see a comment or two from them. When THE MAMA does post something, it is always fun.
3. SHIRLEY everypuggy should read Pug Slope, the adventures of Siddhartha the pug. Sid has a very unique view of his world in Chicago. I always feel good after a visit to Pug Slope.
4. SHIRLEY if you are not reading The Adventures of Frank the Tank then you are missing out on some really RAD adventures in Wales. His walkies are something out of a fairy tale. It doesn't hurt that he is an ADORABLE Pugalier.
5. SHIRLEY no list is complete without a KITTY or TWO. I am particularly fond of Feeling Beachie and reading about the comings and goings of the resident kitty - Lucy. Lucy's mom is an AUTHOR, too and she is super cool.

Where's Everypuggy Going?

Where is everypuggy going? I have lost more than 10 followers in the last THREE MONTHS! That makes me so sad because I work very hard to get followers. Really, I do. I make sure I post consistently (well, except lately but THAT'S another story) and I try to be cute and engaging. And although I may not comment on YOUR blogs, I still follow you and drop by all the time.

So

Is it me or is it BLOGGER? Are people (pups) no longer going to the blogs? Is Blogville going to become a GHOST town or something?

I am really concerned about this. Has anyone else seen a drop off like this?

No New Photos

I often find my post topics in the photos Mommy and others take. So this morning, as is my wont, I went to look for inspiration in photos. Do you know what I found? Not one single NEW photo - and to be honest, I have exploited all of the old ones to ad nauseum.

WHAT THE PUG is going on? Well, I did some inquiry and it seems that when Mommy's iPhone broke last month most of the photo taking STOPPED. She has taken some pictures with her Kindle Fire, but the quality was less than good inside and THAT is exactly where most of them are taken. SO, that means no real new photos until that phone is fixed.

I tried not to get too mad about it because I KNOW Mommy is trying hard to amend the situation. But her phone is almost 2 years old so it is out of warranty AND her contract for the "free" phone does not expire until May. So her carrier-who-shall-remain-nameless but advertises the largest 4G network in the USA said SORRY we cannot help you. You will need to buy a new phone.

A new phone is very very expensive and Mommy has been trying to get it all together to get a new one BUT it is hard. She finally decided to get an older model iPhone which was closer to her budget and get a SIMless one so she can just add the SIM from her old phone. AND VOILA, as the guy at the phone store said.

Well it was anything but VOILA, I tell you. Oh, putting the SIM in was easy - but getting the phone going was not and none of the online supports suggestions worked. Plus to continue she needed to be on wifi and to be on wifi she needed the internet wifi code for the phone. She couldn't get the internet wifi code without the phone being activated and it was NOT because she could not get on the wifi. After some HBO words and a few aborted attempts to throw the phone across the room, She got the phone to open and download all of her stuff from the "cloud" where she had backed up her old phone.

Then she chatted with the carrier to register the IMEI number. The "tech" could not find the phone model in his system because it is NOT A "XX" phone - i.e. the carrier did not sell it so it is not in their system. Mind you - this phone was bought SIMless so it could be used with any carrier. The "tech" said the specs had to go to engineering to add to the system and THEN he MIGHT be able to register the phone and bring up service. This, he typed, would take 1-3 days. 

It is now day 4 and in the meantime Mommy noticed the phone will not hold a charge for longer than 12 hours. She turned off all auto downloads, all notifications, and wifi and the phone will still not hold a charge. She is taking it back to the APPLE STORE and hopes they can help her. If they are nice enough she might even change carriers. . . she is THAT frustrated with the whole phone thing.

And that, in a nutshell, is why we have no new photos for the BLOG.

Hi everypuggy
I am juju dancing today for the Mommy of a dear friend of mine. She, the Mommy, was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and although not an aggressive kind, she is still going in for surgery today.

So I am hoping

1. The cancer is isolated
2. The cancer is eradicated
3. The cancer never rears its UGLY head again

I love her so much and SHE KNOWS who I am talking about.

Mommy is sad because yet another GREAT has lost his battle with cancer. RIP Snape. I always knew there was a ray of good in all that evil.

Hands in the Air if You NEED More Attention

I think you might remember that I planned to go to the Bay Area Pet Expo this past weekend. Yeah, well THAT did not happen. I am not sure why although my Mommys were kinda busy doing college financial aide stuff and going out to eat for Auntie T's birthday. By the time Sunday night rolled around, it became obvious that we were NOT going to make it. Too bad, too. There are always a lot of vendors that love to talk to pugs. And I am pretty sure my pal Woodrow Wear was there too. I miss her.

I guess it is okay to miss an event now and then.

Things sure are different around here this year. I mean, Mommy #2 is home all day now BUT she is ALWAYS working. I thought that her working from home would mean all day cuddles in addition to the walkies (yay) we now enjoy. But no. She is moving boxes around STILL in addition to doing work on the main computer. She has all kinds of errands to run, too. It never stops. I think if you total up the time, I am seeing her less than before. She keeps saying it will settle down to a routine soon. BUT I know I can't wait.

Patience is what I need and what I am lacking. I am working on it, though. I know that Mommy means well and she IS usually RIGHT!

In the meantime, I gotta tell you about this treat we got from Chewy.com. Oh, I MEAN that SUNSHINE (wink, wink) received to TEST. Molly and I picked it out for her for a very specific reason which we will reveal later when we do the review. Lemme just say that YUMMMY does not BEGIN to describe these (quote) CAT (end quote) treats. I, pugsonally, go Koo-koo for KooKoo Puffs for them. The little morsels are a BURST of flavor in my mouth.

You gotta try them. . . once you know what they are. . . when we review them. . . which will be next week.

I am so sad today. David Bowie has passed away at the not-so-old age of 69 years. We listen to him a lot at Casa de Noodles. His music transcends its time and is as relevant today as it was when he first shared "A Space Oddity" in 1969.

His career, which spanned the years from 1967-2016, was always inventive and unexpected.

So, I am substituting my planned post for today to honor the man who brought so much to the world - R.I.P. David Bowie.

Fun Times Moving the Office

Both of my Mommys were involved in moving Mommy #2's office. She, Mommy #2 will be working from home for a while until the company finds new digs. This pleases me to NO END!!!! I predict a lot of cuddle and walkie time in my future. BUT not right now. NOOOOOOOO! They are both too busy arranging space for the additional stuff to even spend an extra hour cuddling. I am cool, though. I KNOW good times are a-coming.

Mommy #1 was packing these boxes with office supplies when she noticed something ODD. She and Mommy #2 had gone to see that new BLOCKBUSTER of a movie the night before and I guess The Force Awakens was on their minds. So. . . this is what happens when you have a couple of SW GEEKS who are a little frazzled with packing.

It was very clever, don't you think? Please note - I DID NOT travel this path without coercion. That is CHEESE on my chin - payment for dressing like CHEWBACCA and posing.

Barking Through 2016

Hi EveryPuggy! We are still here and waiting for the Mommy to get her act together. We are being patient.

Mommy is in the process of moving her office home. Long story but she is still employed which is good. And even better - she will be able to spend a lot of time with us in the CASA because she won't be commuting all the time or 38 miles away at her office. So I can hang with it.

This is at LAST year's Pet Expo

Today she had the cable guy come out to install an internet line for her. No, his NAME was NOT Larry! It was Javier which could be the Spanish equivalent to Larry. MAYBE? Anyhoo. . . me and Molly greeted him with a lot of barking and huffing because he is a stranger. Is and was. We barked loud enough to make Mommy's ears ring - every time he walked in the house. . . into the room . . . under the house . . . basically anytime he changed what he was doing at the moment. Mommy growled at us a couple of times but she KNOWS we were just doing our jobs and guarding our HOME. She covered us with a blanket (we were BOTH in the crate) and we still barked. But I gotta admit that after a while, barking was not so much fun when we couldn't see the PERP, if you know what I mean. So we took naps. . . BUT just for a LITTLE while. As soon as he started to talk to Mommy, we started up again. We are funny like that.

He eventually left and all's quiet again in our home.

This weekend is the PET EXPO at the fairgrounds. We had all kinds of fun at it last year and might be able to go again this year. I will keep you informed.

And for anyone who hasn't see the news in like a MONTH, El Niño has arrived in NorCal! We have had mostly rainy days since before Christmas! How refreshing is that? In fact since last Tuesday we have had a total of 3 days of clear weather and then it started raining (at least it waited until Mommy came home from the Forty-Niner game). The nice weather lady on TV - Kari Hall - said it is supposed to rain AT LEAST 4 of 7 days this week. Wow. All of the plants and trees look so happy. And it kinda looks like we have a lawn because the area where the lawn would be is all green with WEEDS. I'm not complaining. Those WEEDS feel better than the brown crunchy GRASS we have been doing our bidness on.

The Time Noodles Told Sunshine About a Treat
