Playing or Avoiding????? |
There are times I am really really good. When either Mommy #1 or Mommy #2 calls, I come running. And that is without the added incentive of a treat! Or I am asked to DROP something and I do it - again without the PROMISE of a TREAT.
But then there are times when - well - I just don't listen. Mind you, I HEAR - I just don't LISTEN. So Mommy will CALL for me to come downstairs (let's ignore the fact I SHOULDN'T be upstairs to being with), and I will NOT come. I get to the top of the stairs and just STAND there looking at her with a big SMILE on my face. I stand there until Mommy comes for me (is SHE GROWLING at me?) and then I run down the hall. Or sometimes I RUN downstairs right past Mommy's feet almost tripping her with my lightning speed.
It usually ends up with Mommy asking me if I HEARD her? Yes, I tell her with my roundest, liquidiest and most innocentest EYES. Then I tilt my head, ever so beguilingly, BUT I WASN'T LISTENING!!!!

I think we all hear but just don't listen sometimes :)

Ok ok, guilty as charged. But with your smiley face, no WAY you could be in trouble for too long.

Heheheh cute little booger!
I'd like to say I always listen like a good little pug. But there are days I just don't want to do what I'm being told to do, like go outside when it's really cold out.
We are fostering a deaf boston terrier. Whe she feels like not "listening" she just turns her head so she can't see the humans making hand signals at her. She's one smart cookie.
Really is funny how we are on the same wave length today with our posts about hearing. Just goes to prove how great minds (and Pugs) think alike.

Bahahahaha Noodles,
I do that all the time. There is an old joke in my Dad's family. I think it was my Auntie who said it as a little girl. "call me, and I won't come" whenever I pull that stunt, my parents repeat that same mantra. Hehe, it usually gets em laughing. Sometimes though, not so much.
BOL! Keep up the good work, Noodles!
Love, Marlene
Me dog does the same thing!
I think you must all be alike. At least now I pretty much know that Lola hears me. It is just a matter of if she wants to listen to what I am saying.
Go Noodles! A naughty pug is my favorite kind! ;)
Yeah butt if THEY didn't sound like THIS...
blah bla aaaba labaaah bla blah bla
WE just MIGHT... listen. RIGHT????
BOL!!! I agree with Frankie on how we must sound!!
Paint us with the guilty brush. At least Isabelle has the excuse of being deaf.
Mom has stopped using the word "come." She says "treat" instead. That always brings us running. Of course, she has to pay up or that word will lose its value. Works for us!
You are Arnie's brother from another mother, for sure. He NEVER comes to mom when she calls him, but stands staring at her, wagging and wagging and wagging his tail. She has to go GET him. She knows he can hear, because the wag happens after every "Arnie".
I on the other hand, always come when mom calls me.
Gracie (Arnie's perfect sister)
Hi Noodles,
Sometimes I have "selective hearing". Then Mom say's that I need the "wax" cleaned out of my ears.

Noodles you just described what my Dad says I does all the times. He gets so mads at me when I stand at the top of the stairs and stand and stand and don't moves. Then Mum comes into the scene and demands that I get downstairs right nows. Again I stand and stand and finally Mum has to come ups and gets me. Dad says I am just plain stubborns. I likes your excuse.... just not listenings.

Noodles,
We all do that. Lincoln at the dog park pretends he doesn't know his name. I on the other hand never come when I'm called. I take a message and get back to you. You go girl.

Marshmallow and I are just like that too. Macho is always stuck to mommy so she never has to call for him.
