Pet Blogger Challenge . . . Why NOT?

Pet Blogger Challenge

1. When did you begin your blog?
June 2009- Just prior to Noodles's FIRST birthday.

2. What was your original purpose for starting a blog?
I wanted to create an activity that my then 11 year old daughter and I could both participate in. A blog seemed like a good way to get her interested in creative writing. She had created a couple at school which she never maintained.
We have a 1 year old pug, Noodles, who keeps us laughing all the time so we knew she would be the central topic of whatever we decided to write. I had read The Daily Puglet and enjoyed it so much I decided a PET BLOG was the way to go. The blog name, A Bowl of Noodles copyright, came to me as I was riding the train to work.
I am proud to say my daughter has written some of the better received poems. Even now we split the writing duties . . . not 50-50 but she does do her share of writing, photo-taking, and brainstorming.

3. Is your current purpose the same?
Absolutely! This has been such a fun adventure and we are making so many online friends that it is rewarding as well. As a displaced writer (first magazine then technical) I really needed a creative outlet to stay sane. And my daughter needed a venue for expressing herself in writing where she was not being graded or restricted to a particular format.

4. Do you blog on a schedule or as the spirit moves you?
We blog Monday through Friday. I try to even when on vacation although it can be sometimes difficult to get online when we are away from home.

People often ask where the inspiration for a particular posting came from. Honestly, I don't know. I think Noodles has so much personality that she makes the topics naturally appear. Then there are the poems, written by both myself and my daughter. I write those when I don't have a lot to say.

I love how you write poems when you don't know what to say. For me, writing a poem would be a gigantic undertaking and I'd only write one after weeks worth of labour. You and your daughter clearly have too much talent.

Dogs can definitely be the best subjects for creativity. I am so glad Noodles has inspired you!
