Mommy came back on Saturday night. She was gone such a long long time and I missed her so much. She immediately gave me a huge hug and cuddle which made me feel good. And for the first time in FOREVER I got to sit on her lap a long time AND I got to sleep with her. It was the best sleep ever.
So Mommy went on the Women's' March on Washington. She felt it was important to let the elected representatives know that she was upset with some of the new administration's policies against women. That was her main concern. There were a lot of issues on the agenda for the march and there were many people there from both sides of the political landscape. That's because the First Amendment guarantees freedom of speech - and the March was an exercise in freedom of speech.
Mommy wore a hat similar to this. It was the uniform of the March, sorta. Wearing the hat was completely optional and there were a lot of people who did not wear them. Here is an interesting fact - there were 500,000 marchers in Washington D.C. with Mommy.
So Mommy told me she and her friends got up at 5 am so they could be at the METRO station by 6:30 and get to the March site early. The March did not start until 10 am but since the press was predicting 250,000 marchers, it made more sense to go early. The closer to start time the most dense the crowds. As a matter of fact, by 1pm on March Day the Metro had recorded over 400,000 riders.
