The Great Northwest Could Not Keep Mommy

Me waiting by the front door

Mommy #2 was gone for FIVE whole days I was so sure she might be gone for good. But I waited. .  . and waited . . . and WAITED! I was almost to the point of despair and then - she walked in the door.
She said she had a super time but missed me a lot. She wished I could go and experience the smells of a completely different place. She said weather-wise it was very suited for pugs.

Mommy said 3 of 5 days were overcast

Mommy and Auntie D did some walking around on Wednesday at the Bloedel Reserve which was very close to the house they were staying at. It is a mix of natural flora and fauna and cultured gardens. She said it was really beautiful and relaxing. And on that day, the weather was FANTASTIC! It was sunny and mild and for one day, Mommy was not cold.

What are these?

Behind the Great House was a view of Puget Sound

She said the other days were mostly driving around and seeing places they did not see last time they went to Washington. They went north to Port Townsend, Whidbey Island and then south to Silverdale, Bremerton and Vashon Island. There were so many differences in the various places. Mommy specifically liked Langley. Whidbey Island AND Poulsbo in Kitsap County (actually across the bridge from Bainbridge Island where they stayed).

I have said this many many times before, but my Mommy #2 is a wildflower FANATIC. Truly! She cannot help herself when she is around them as she wants to capture the perfect photo AND THEN identify what kind of wildflower it is. This was not easy to do at Bloedel Reserve as they had guide books for BIRDS, CONIFERS and ANIMALS but not any at all for wildflowers. She has been poring through online resources to identify the flowers.

She bought this expensive book at the reserve.
It is inadequate for identifying more than 3
kinds of wildflowers

Here are some she was able to capture on film AND identify

Day Four of Noodle's SOLO Posts, Thumbless Version

As you can tell, I am searching my PHOTO archives for photos . I really like this one even though you cannot see my adorable face. And all you see of Mommy is her leg showing her STAR WARS socks.

This reminds me of something - I really like Star Wars, do you? I get so excited when I hear the opening theme music. I run through the house and settle RIGHT NEXT TO Mommy and watch, enthralled.

I like to imagine I am a brave soldier of the REBEL ALLIANCE, something like Han Solo. I know, I am a girl. But you know it is MY imagination and I can therefore be anything I want. Like HANNA SOLO, perhaps.

I can see it now - ME zooming into the fray in the Millennium Falcon doing the unexpected and unimaginable.

And we win the day for the Rebel Alliance.

DAY TWO, Post by Noodles

I am hitting the ground running with my BLOG posts. As you can tell, I am totally ready for the TRACK. I like to run but no longer run a lot. I am almost TEN YEARS OLD now, after all.

So, Day Two without Mommy. I got up as usual (maybe a little earlier because I usually cuddle in the morning a little longer with Mommy) and did my morning BIDNESS. Then I QUICKLY ate my morning kibble and promptly stationed myself next to Aunt T while she makes her breakfast and lunch. She always "accidentally" drops a bit of apple or banana my way. It is a YUMMY way to start my day.

What shall I do with myself? I am thinking I will settle in my NEST bed and snooze a while. Aunt B and Cousin C are home this week because it is SPRING break from school. Thank goodness because I don't know how I will manage my potty schedule with no one home.

The weather person has predicted WARM weather this week so I am sure I will be inside a lot of the time.

I checked on the weather in SEATTLE and (no surprise) it is

She's Packed Her Bags and is Ready to Go . . .

Mommy is leaving for a ONE WEEK vacation with Auntie D. They are going to Seattle, again. It makes me very very sad and you KNOW I will be sitting by the door waiting for her. But I do understand that sometimes Mommy needs to explore new places. She would totally take me if she could, I know this.

I have been helping pack as only I can. I have a unique way of pushing everything down so she can more easily close her suitcase.

I advised her to take warm clothes BUT not worry about taking a lot. It is more important that she remembers her BUG REPELLENT and SHAMPOO than an extra pair of socks. LOL!

While she is gone, I am going to try and keep up with the blog ON MY OWN. Please bear with me as typing without thumbs is kinda difficult.

Sigh. I miss her already.

But What About ME, Mommy?

So as I mentioned, My Mommy #2 has a SOMETIMES short memory. Why do I say this? Well, right after she apologized for NOT taking me hiking AND telling me how sorry she was, she went and did the SAME THING on the very next day.

Not the same place. This time she went to Half Moon Bay to visit her friend Auntie L and my FURiends, Pablo and Moose. Yes, you heard me right. She went to visit MY FURiends. Without me.

(Mommy's note: One of the reasons Noodles was not included in these excursions was she was not at home. She spent the whole weekend and all of Monday with her Mommy #1. That's right, she was livin' the vida COED)

Mommy took the train up the peninsula really really early in the morning. Auntie L picked her up in San Mateo and then drove over the hill to HMB. It was still sunny and mild at that point. It would cloud over and start to rain by early afternoon. BUT not before they had a nice LONG walk on the coast with the boys.

Here's the proof:

Pablo smiling

Moose posing

Ahhhh, all those negative ions feel so good

I think walking all that way means I get a treat

Who's Guilty?

This past weekend was so beautiful. It was clear and warm and yet there was a nice breeze. Welcome the SPRING. It also happens to be wildflower season around here and if you recall, Mommy loves to hike and look at wildflowers. So when Auntie B asked Mommy #2 if she wanted to hike on the weekend, she said SURE!

It was the perfect day for a hike.

Mommy and Auntie B chose the Sunol Regional Wilderness as their hiking spot mostly because it is a great place to see a lot of different wildflowers. They allow dogs there - some of our FURiends from Blogville have hiked there in the past. But Mommy figured the hike would be too hard and it might be a little too warm, so she chose to leave me at home.

I was fine with it, sorta. I love to walk with Mommy and Auntie B and I love the great outdoors, to be sure. But I also cannot walk quite as far as I used to when I was a young puppy. It just seemed better to leave me at home.

They saw a lot of wildflowers

Winter Vetch

California Poppy and Phlox

Yeah, Poppies

A field of poppies

Not only did they see a lot of various wildflowers but they saw a lot of DOGS! Yes, the park was filled with happy pups hiking with their humans. And then Mommy saw a young couple with a small Frenchie in a backpack. And then she remembered SHE HAD BOUGHT ONE TO CARRY ME ON HIKES! Yes, you read that right. She could have totally taken me. I could have walked a while and then when I got too winded, she could have plopped me into the pack. Oh Mommy!

She is feeling a bit bad about that but not so bad the she didn't do it AGAIN!

Check tomorrow to see what I mean.

Complete Concentration

This is me concentrating. Can you tell what I am concentrating on? Not really because there are no visual clues around me. But I admit I am totally INTO what I am seeing and even a little tense. Do you think you know what it is?

My FANS know.

Bigify the photo and I am pretty sure most of you can tell what has me concentrating so hard!

But just in case, I took the time to do it FOR YOU. So look down and find out why I am the perfect MODEL of supreme CONCENTRATION

My Favorite Bed in the World . . . Right NOW

I have had many many beds in my 9+ years. Many. Do any of you remember my SNOOPY bed? Or my SOCK MONKEY bed. Ahhhh. Those were two of the best. Last year Mommy bought me a NEST BED from Costco and honestly - it is my ALL TIME favorite. Once I get in there, I'm absolutely NOT coming out. It is a whole 'nother dimension from what I am discussing here. I am talking the BEST bed NOT my nest.

So I have a Star Trek bed from Pugs in the Kitchen and I love love love it. Mommy is a HUGE Star Trek fan and I like a comfy bed. Win win. It is durable and washable, too. But it is getting on in years and the stuffing is kinda thinning out. Compressing, maybe. It will be fluffy after a wash and then flat within days. I still sleep on it but it is a shadow of its former COMFY self.

Fast forward to a need for some supplies from Chewy.com. You all know how much I love love love my Chewy.com. Anyhoooooo, Molly and Sunshine were running out of wet food and Sunshine needed cat litter so - CHEWY to the rescue. It arrived in a day or so in this wonderful box. And oddly enough, the box had no dents or scuffs. It was just perfect. So Mommy kind of left it laying around trying to decide if she should put it in recycle when it DAWNED on her! My Star Trek Bed would fit perfectly in it and the box would help it keep its shape. So she tried it and believe me . . . I wasted no time at all jumping into the box BED and settling down for a nap.

Now this is likely where you will find me (when I am not in my nest bed. But the nest stays in Mommy's room and the door is usually closed) snuggling in for a nap.

Speaking of which. . . HEY Molly! Care to join me? I put your mat right next to my BOX.

Better Late Than Never, I Guess

I apologize for this LATE blog post. You see, I have absolutely no excuse except to say it is MONDAY. For some reason that excuses everything.

I had a pretty active weekend. I spent a lot of time outside "helping" Aunt T with her gardening. It was really nice weather - not too hot and not at all cold. I like it so much more than rainy and gloomy and cold.

We had VISITORS this weekend, too! My Mommy's grand-nephew came down from Santa Rosa and went to the HOCKEY game with the family. I had not seen him in YEARS! And even then it was when he was more of a puppy and so was I. Now he is 21 years old and tall. It was good to see him. And apparently they had a lot of FUN at the hockey game. The SHARKS won and it was FAN APPRECIATION day which really means a lot of people-not-my-family won a lot of cool gifts. But they all said it was still fun.

Then on SUNDAY, my Mommy's niece (the grand-nephew's Mom) and grand-niece came over for a nice visit. I really like having family visit.

Friday, Friday, Friday

It's Friday. I am so happy the week is ending. There is something magical about the weekend, don't you think?

Friday is a good time to BE A FRIDA (like Kahlo). That means be FIERCE. Be YOURSELF. Why? Because Friday is the beginning of a weekend of possibilities.

There is a lot going on today. The local BASEBALL TEAM has their HOME Season Opener today. It is, unfortunately, a gray rainy day and there could be a game delay if the rain gets heavier. BUT that is not my point. My POINT is it is NOW baseball season and I, for onepug, am so happy about that.

Today also marks the semi-final mark of MARCH MADNESS. I know, it is April and so it seems weird to say MARCH MADNESS. But they are down to the Final Four and that means that soon it will be history. I kinda tuned out when Gonzaga fell out of it. WHY? No reason, really. I just like saying GONZAGA.

And TODAY marks the countdown for two major events for my Mommys: The last season of Game of Thrones AND the opening of the much awaited Avenger: Endgame. That's exciting stuff! I have sat upon their laps during many a viewing of both GOT and MCU.

Finally, today is the end of the work week which means EVERYPUGGY is a little happier and a little more relaxed.

While I am thinking about it, GO SJ SHARKS! They are (limping) into the playoffs and their final home game is tomorrow. I love my TEAM. Viva los tiburones! My Mommys are going to the game tomorrow night. I know they are excited.

Me at the Shark Tank

So THAT is why I like FRIDAYS. I am not a big fan of the week going by so quickly, however. And the older I get, the faster those weeks fly by. And I am not doing anything any differently. Honestly! I get up, do my bidness and check the neighborhood news, EAT, nap, check out the yard and enjoy the neighborhood smells. MAYBE take a good walk, EAT, nap and finally go to bed. MAYBE, if the weather is nice and warm, I sit outside in a sunbeam and snooze a little. So I don't understand why the weeks fly by faster and faster and faster.

But THAT is another topic for another TIME.
