Apples AND Nothing to DO With Me!

I am staging a bit of a protest today. You see - Mommy #2 took off yesterday morning and did NOT return until AFTER her night job. Yes, it was close to night-night time. And that meant I had to NOT ONLY hold my pee for a long long time, but I also had no HUMOM to cuddle with and chat with and . . . just BE with. She is my WORLD, after all. That is unless Mommy #1 is home and then SHE is also my WORLD.

She went to visit our furiends in Sacramento - Auntie S and Sif, Xena and Thor. Sif and Xena are doodles - Thor is a newfie.

That is BESIDE the point. What she did while there is the POINT. They went to Apple Valley and SMELLED (and ate a little bit of) APPLES. I loves loves loves APPLES, as anyone who follows my blog knows.

Mommy had been PAST APPLE VALLEY, but had never actually been to AV. She really liked it because it is beautiful and quaint and filled with farms nestled in the Sierra foothills. It is amazing territory. She said they had fun and ate apple donuts. She DID NOT bring any apples home for me to taste. I am a little sad about that.

Like I said, I love APPLES.

I am working on my peevishness about this latest Mommy transgression - meditation helps.

What's a Pug to DO?

It is USELESS. I cannot, will not, ignore the ripening apples in the yard. Every time I go out there I am overwhelmed by the aroma of ripening apples. I am drawn to the tree by the intoxicating smell and when I get there I am overcome by the need to pull an apple - or two - down.

That's when I settle into the little remaining grass (thank you drought for turning my green carpet of crass into crunchy brown weeds) and enjoy the sweet crispy crunch of a fresh apple. I am powerless to stop.

yes, that is a eye booger - so what?

I Might As Well Face It, I'm ADDICTED To -

I took this off the Internet. In a NON-drought
year this is how our tree looks.

APPLES! Yes!! I am utterly, completely, and MADLY in love with Apples. I spend my whole evening outside scrounging around for them. I don't care if they are wormy, shriveled, dried. . . I LOVE APPLES!

Whatever am I gonna DO?

This year our apples are bad (not so bad as to prevent me from chowing on them, though). After 4 years of little to no rain, they are small - apricot size - and grainy. And they are falling off the tree BEFORE they have ripened. Normally we have a couple of buckets full of juicy crisp apples.

I am salivating at the thought of all of those nice apples in the yard. . . perhaps if I look desperate to pee SHE will let me out AGAIN for the fourth time in 20 mins?

Can Someone Help me??? Call an intervention or something? In the meantime. . . excuse me while I NOSH a few . . .

An Apple a DAY. . .

Do you know what I love BEST about this time of year? The APPLES that are getting RIPE on the tree in our yard. I cannot cannot cannot resist those delicious juicy APPLES. There is something indescribable about the first bite - that crisp crunch. . . the sweet juice dribbling down my jowls. . . the OH-SO- DIVINE burst of apple-y flavor when I start to chew.
CHEW? Did I say c-h-e-w? I never chew anything. I must be delirious with APPLE love to say that I actually chew anything. But nonetheless, the apple-y flavor does burst into my mouth sending love signals to my brain. And then I am stuck in an apple bog from which I never want to leave.
I spend inordinate amounts of time in the yard these days just stealing an apple here and an apple there. Even though our tree is a dwarf tree, I cannot really reach any but the lowest branches and must limit my scrounging for apples to those under the tree.
WOE is the day Auntie T chooses to pick the apples.
