She Went to the Beach and I Got Treats

We are very proud of our Japan Town. It is very beautiful and filled with wonderful businesses. Biscuits is located on

As some of you might know, Mommy #2 abandoned me and went to the coast. She went to a BEACH that allows dogs so there was really no excuse for her to not take me. She told me later that it was a bit cold and I probably would not have enjoyed myself much. I think I would have but that is a discussion for another time.

On the way home, she and Auntie B stopped by JAPAN TOWN for some ice cream at Jimbos (they serve yummy stuff there - very Hawaiian - I know.  .  . I have tasted it before. So she decided that since she was in Japan Town, she would pay Biscuits: Give a Dog a Bone a visit.

According to Wikipedia, San Jose's Japan Town was originally settled around a China Town. The two cultures still share cultures in the area. It is one of THREE Japan Towns still viable in California..

BISCUITS is our favorite boutique because it carries very healthy toys, snacks, and food as well as organic pet health products. There are clothes that support the local teams and even kimonos so we can attend Nikkeimatsuri and Obon dressed in style. There is so much to buy that a pug can go crazy trying to make a decision. Mommy limits me to one thing ONCE in a while.

AND THE OWNER, Ms Jennifer, is the coolest human I know! She recognizes me when ever I go there and she always always always gives me a treat (with Mommy's permission). She has a real understanding of what pooches like and she is MOM to TWO rescues!!!

So Mommy and Auntie B looked around and ended up buying these treats for us

 Don't these look fun? Mommy is such a Star Wars freak that I am not surprised she bought these. I am sure she wishes they were for her. They contain wheat so they are not for pooches with allergies - but otherwise they are dog friendly. We have not tried them yes so I really cannot tell you if they are yummy or not. BUT, they are from BISCUITS so I am betting they are the best. Everything I have ever bought at Biscuits is yummy IF it is eatable.

We, me and Molly, DID get to try these PUPCAKES, though. OMP! They are NOT to be believed. Absolutely yummy and delicious and tasty and any other superlative you can dream up. I give them FOUR paws up just for being food - FOUR MORE for being the stuff dreams are made of.

I am sorry a lot of you are not in the Bay Area to be able to visit Biscuits. It is just the best. But if you have a favorite boutique near you, be sure to visit it. Buying local and supporting small businesses is the WAY TO GO.

I am so happy Japan Town has this shop.

A Sight Seldom Seen

As you know, we received a lot of rain over the past 5 days. It seems like the storm lasted a lot longer than that, but this is an accurate account according to the local newspaper. It was raining so hard and so long that going out side was difficult. Except Mommy bought us these

This is a raincoat in a BAG! And see the loop? It has a snap and can hook on your LEASH! Isn't this an absolutely brilliant idea?

She got the raincoats at our favorite doggy BOUTIQUE - Biscuits: Give a Dog a Bone. It is located in San Jose's Japantown and is run my our FURiend Ms. Jennifer. Well, until she opened Biscuits, we didn't know Ms. Jennifer at all! It's true. But we wandered in one day and guess what? She recognized me from my BLOG! Can you believe it?

So now we go there for specialty things like Bully Sticks (for gifts because I am banned from them) and leashes and now these, our raincoats. Don't they look absolutely wonderful on us? And they are as comfortable as they are functional. I, PUGsonally, loves loves loves my rubber ducky motif. And Molly says she ROCKS the pink like no other Malty Mix!

We are in a dry spell for a while now but I tell you, we are all pretty happy with the rain we had. Yes, there has been some mud sliding and power outages and flooding. . . but there are also full reservoirs and streams AND an abundance of growing plants. These are things we have not had in a long long long long long while. SO thank you Mother Nature.

Getting BEHIND

I am a firm believer in getting behind something. Not the following behind or being submissive. Not ME - I am a princess, remember.

No, instead I mean getting behind something and being supportive or proactive of it. I can think of a few good BEHINDS right off the top of my head

• Getting BEHIND recycling and APPLYING it to my everyday living
• Getting BEHIND my sports teams and making sure they KNOW it
• Getting BEHIND a cause, like Adopt not Shop, and making sure a lot of people are AWARE of it
• Getting BEHIND a shop, like Biscuits, because they are conscientous and caring
• Getting BEHIND a person, like Gerard Butler because he likes PUGS

I think you get my drift here, huh? What are some of the things you like to get BEHIND? I bet if we all shared our BEHINDS with each other we can really raise some awareness, huh?

HAPPY THOUGHT OF THE DAY: Getting Behind a person, a cause, a movement, etc. really adds purpose to everyday living.

Dog Fun or Human Fun?

After the DOG PARK, Molly and I went to the HUMAN playground. We can't be off-leash there but we managed to find some fun things to do.

It was really a lot of fun, to tell the truth. Afterward, we all went to our FAVORITE dog boutique in downtown Japantown - Biscuits - Give a Dog a Bone. They have all kinds of healthy yummy foods there, bakery treats, fancy clothes, FORTY NINER JERSEYS FOR DOGS, Bully Sticks. . . oh the list goes on and on! And the owner, Jennifer Pan ALWAYS gives me a special HELLO and, if I let her, a quick hug. She is SUPER!

Mommy #2 let ME and Molly choose 3 treats each! We got small bully sticks, a small animal cracker, and a dried sweet potato chew. The animal cracker was gone in a flash!

I cannot wait for my next big adventure!!!!

Shopping at Biscuits and a TIP

On Saturday, my Mommys went to our favorite Dog Boutique - Biscuits Give a Dog a Bone in Japantown, San Jose. Not only is the shop really sweet, but the owners are so friendly AND caring. They care A LOT - about dogs, about rescues, about the community, about health, and so on. Mommy says there are not many dog boutiques that can make the same claim. Inside Biscuits is a panoply of eatables and wearables for dogs of all sizes. Organic, holistic, and good-for-you are the words that best describe everything at Biscuits - even the toys.

Mommy was really just there for a Bully Stick for lil' ol me; but while she was there she also signed me up for a TEETH CLEANING. Now that I am approaching 3 she wants to make sure my teeth and gums stay as healthy as possible. Not to mention that a certain PUGGY who shall remain nameless is less than THRILLED with anyone seeing my teeth much less cleaning my teeth. My nightly teeth cleaning routine (Oh, um. . . weekly lately because SOMEONE has been particularly difficult) usually consists of me chewing the brush for a couple of minutes and then Mommy #1 holding me while Mommy #2 tries (in vain) to scrub at LEAST the outside of my back molars without popping my eyeballs out.

While chit chatting with the owner, Jennifer, Mommy found out about a dog park that had just opened down the street. That is only 2 miles from our house!!! Normally we travel more than 10 miles to go to the dog park! This was such exciting news that My Mommys immediately left Biscuits Give a Dog a Bone and promptly drove home to get me! Tomorrow I will tell you about the Dog Park.
