The New Mellow Molly

Molly is a worry wort. Truly. She worries about every little sound and light change. She worries when everyone is home and worries when they are away. In fact, one of the reasons she found her forever home with us was her worrying. But the worst is when I am away. She cannot handle that at all. She whines. She barks. She yips. In other words, she FLIPS OUT. Short of me always being by her side (this is just not possible although I am mostly with her), Mommy knew she needed a solution.

She was perusing the latest Modern Dog Magazine (I let her borrow it) and came across something she never really considered before - CBD (cannabidiol). Have you heard of it? It is something that I know a lot of my older FURiends use for a variety of reasons. Anxiety is not one of the reasons, that I know of. But according to this thingy Mommy read, it was highly recommended for ANXIETY.

WHY?

So she followed the suggestions and went online to Honest Paws, a CBD distributor. She looked it over, read the reviews and finally decided to give it a try. BUT it was quite difficult to decide which product to use! There are oil, treats, supplements, and so on. A whole bunch of products using CBD. The reviews of the products and the retail site were all good so she TOOK THE CHANCE and ordered the CBD oil for Molly. She wanted to be able to control the dosage more than a treat would allow. I lobbied BIG for the treats; but Mommy pointed out they WERE NOT for me so, no.

It took JUST DAYS for the package to arrive. The oil was prettily packaged and all of the instructions were included. It was so easy. The first test was on the next Monday when Molly's Mommy was taking her on a car ride. Molly does NOT do well on car rides. So she tried a HALF dosage (she didn't know how Molly would react) just before she left. That was NOT the best thing to do. It did not have time to really get into her system and Molly's anxiety skyrocketed. Then she got all pant-y and pace-y and wouldn't settle down. Then, all of a sudden (after they stopped), she calmed down and settled into her car-spot. JUST LIKE THAT. The return trip was without the erratic behavior.

I wasn't there so I can't say for sure how extreme Molly's behavior was. But I think her first reaction was more because she couldn't figure out how she was feeling. Then she just gave into it. My point is, it appears to have worked.

We have only tried it one other time and that was when everyone in the house left for the day and we were home alone. Molly was FREAKING OUT, as usual so Mommy DOSED her up. She calmed down the rest of the day.

So it appears that Mommy has stumbled across something that really does the job AND is completely  safe and natural. I think we are in the CBD club to stay. I don't know if we will be loyal to Honest Paws as there are many places to get pet products with CBD in them. We'll see. For now it is just good that Molly has a way to calm her Anxieties.

Marvelous Minion

I am one lucky PUG! Every Friday MODERN DOG MAGAZINE has Friday Freebies and I always enter for something. I don't often win but playing is half the fun.

Last month, around Halloween they were offering Minion Halloween Costumes. One was a GIRL Minion. I must confess, a lot of my Halloween Costumes are what would be generally considered BOY costumes. And, as all my FURiends know, I am a GIRL. So that is what I told the people at Modern Dog Magazine - that if I won the GIRL costume my Mommy would HAVE to stop dressing me up as a boy.

They BOUGHT IT!!!!! I won a Minion Costume and I was so happy I danced and danced and danced. As luck would have it, "Despicable Me" was on tv and I watched it with renewed interest because NOW I would be representing GIRL MINIONS everywhere.

The costume was provided by Rubie's Pet Shop, a division of Rubie's Costumes. Take a moment to check out their costumes. They have almost anything you can imagine and for really decent prices.

Not too much later, like a couple of weeks or less, after receiving the news I had won, I received an email from Erin at Rubie's Pet Shop Boutique. She asked the important stuff like SIZE and ADDRESS. I figured I was in for a long wait.

Not so long. The costume arrived while I was at Auntie K's cozy home. The minute I saw the box, I knew what it was and I was jumping for joy!!!

I have a lot of clothes - not as many as some, but probably more than average. I wear them when the mood strikes me or when Tiffy comes over to play. It's fun.

This Minion Costume is TOP QUALITY! I loves loves loves it so much that I think I will simply wear it JUST BECAUSE! It is made of soft flannel and is sized just right for my svelte PUG body. The hat is comfortable too and I didn't try to shake it off even once!

You can't really tell from this picture but the bottom has a skirt like attachment. I almost look girly in it.

I cannot wait to SHAKE MY TAIL at the next Pugoween. I am pretty sure I will TOTALLY win the BEST BOUGHT COSTUME contest.

BLING! Bling! It's STYLE Calling

 A while back my Mommy entered a contest on Facebook. It was sponsored by Modern Dog Magazine - every Friday they do a Friday Giveaway on their Facebook page! She has entered them now and then but figured no one ever really won. She sure didn't. You know what I mean - businesses use gimmicks like that all the time to get people to "Like" them so they can brag about their numbers.

Okay, we both admit that perhaps that is a bit too cynical and that sometimes businesses are using contests as a way to thank their followers. Long story short - we WON!! Yes, Mommy had entered to win me a NEW COLLAR because, well a PUG Princess cannot have too many collars. And Mommy likes to put them on me when we are in a pug crowd so she can identify me quickly.

On this particular Friday, Modern Dog Magazine was giving away a Hydro Collar from Hot Dogs All Dressed. Hmmmm, Mommy thought, that might be nice on my dear sweet Nu-Nu (as she often calls me). So she followed the directions and entered the contest. At the end of the day she looked on Facebook to see the winners. She read them - went huh - and the said ALOUD Woo-Hoo! Because there in digital words was MY NAME as a winner!!!! OMP! This was awesome!

She contacted Modern Dog Magazine and they put her in touch with Hot Dogs All Dressed. From there is was a pretty easy process. She was so puzzled about what color and then they told her BLING was included!!!  They told her to look on the site and see what they have available. That way she has a visual to go by.

She finally she decided to go with what every PUG Princess      would want - PINK with shiny diamond-like paws.

These GREAT collars usually retail for $20+ but we got ours FOR FREE!!!

Within 2 weeks - from the time she won - I received my new collar in the mail. AND I must say, it is absolutely PERFECT right down to the rivets! My new collar is comfortable and cleanable. It is also waterproof and VEGAN! It won't smell, either - unlike ME. I think it looks really really good, as well.

  

And about Modern Dog Magazine - winning the contest worked because now Mommy reads that magazine because it is full of interesting information for the care and keeping of PRINCESSES, like me. They have articles on what foods are good for dogs and PUGS and what are not! They have celebrity interviews! They have pet related crafts for those crafty dog owners (I mean this in the GOOD way, not bad). This month they also feature an article about living with senior pets AND exercising yourself and your pet. Hey Mommy!!! That one is for us!!!
