Doing My PUG Duty

I am one lucky PUG princess. I get to live (kinda) in two places because I have TWO MOMMYS. Mommy #2 is in our main home and Mommy #1 is in university 7.5 miles away. She lives on campus in an apartment. This year she has been able to have me for SLEEP-OVERS which is so much fun for me! I get to meet all of her friends and I gotta say, I loves her roomie Ms I.

I pretty much spend my time snuggling with Mommy #1 while she is studying BUT when she is otherwise busy, I spend some time snuggling with Beremy Bear. He is 5 feet tall and very soft and plushy. Perfect for an afternoon nap.

I feel particularly lucky to be able to spend time on campus. Not only am I a pug who likes being too smart for my own good, but I also get to help Mommy #1 not be so stressed or anxious. You know how it is in college. It can be a very stressful environment. I am just glad I can be there for her.

In addition to STRESS relief, I also helped Mommy #2 do something she has NEVER done before - VOTE. We went through the info booklet together and discussed the candidates and issues. It was interesting. Then we marked the ballot and

Celebrate WITH ME! I am Five Years YOUNG today!

I'm FIVE today

Five years ago TODAY I was born. My mother, Fiona, had 4 other puppies that day - all boys. NOT ME! I was the only GIRL in the litter. So as you can tell, I was SPECIAL from the start.

My Mommys wanted a GIRL PUG even though everybody told them a BOY would be easier. They are never ones to take the easy route so they INSISTED on *ME. They were told I was headstrong, energetic, and uncontrollable. My fold had not developed and my tail was too low, they said, so I would not be good for showing. My Mommys didn't care, they weren't looking for a show dog. They wanted me.

*SIDE NOTE: We couldn't do rescue because there were 2 kids under the age of 10 in the house and so no one would adopt to them.

I fooled them! My tail is NEARLY perfect (I have 2 awards to prove it) and my fold. . . well you can see from the above picture that it developed just fine. I am, in short, BEAUTIFUL.

This is all ancient HERSTORY, though. Today the NATION comes together to celebrate ME. I am humbled and honored.

Next week is Molly's SECOND birthday so we are celebrating today with CAKES and PRESENTS.

Doody Duty Thinking

I was outside on Doody Duty (watching my new sister Molly while she did her bidness) yesterday and it got me to thinking. Not about Doody. . .  but about what kind of DOODY we would all be in if we lost the privelege of voting. Yeah, gonna tread the testy waters of politics here.

If we had no say so in what that big HUGE thing called GOVERNMENT did, we would have no freedom to DOODY where we want to . . . get treats when we want them. . . or even LIVE with who we want to.

And that would be no good at all. I am a pampered PRINCESS PUG and I am used to not only EXPRESSING my free will ALL over the place; but also used to having my laundry list of demands met on a continuing basis. MY FREEDOM depends on everyone in the USA's freedom and I do not want to lose it.

So take some time out of your day and VOTE. It doesn't matter who you vote for because at least you are doing the one thing that is important - FREEly choosing who you believe will do the best for this country.

The SOAPBOX is now stored for another 4 years.
