HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!

SO, as you now know, Mommy's last two weeks have been anything but normal. She was so busy and then the new job started. AnyHOWWWWWW, my Halloween Costume idea went by the wayside.

To make matters WORSE, I got sick on Halloween Morning - I was all sulky and my tail was down and I was TREMBLING. I was hurting. Mommy checked my limbs for injury and felt for fever. Luckily none of those things were conclusive. So she gave me an antacid and went to work. She planned to call the DOGTER when she got to her office. She also talked to her SUPERVISOR about leaving early to take me there. The supervisor said sure. Mommy left early in the afternoon.

Mommy RUSHED home as fast as the traffic would allow. When she opened the door I bounded up to her like normal. I was telling her the ANTACID worked and I felt perfectly NORMAL and did not HAVE TO go see the dogter.

Nice try, Mommy said and took me anyhow. The DOGTER gave me a once over and declared me FIT AS A FIDDLE and sent me on my way. Told you, Mommy.

When Mommy got home she rushed around the house making things ready for Trick or Treaters and making dinner for the HUMANS in the house. It was nearly TnT time when she remembered I needed a COSTUME if I was going to greet guests at the door.

This - my very first Halloween Costume (That's a Bowl of Noodles) was what she choose. It still fit. The only difference is I STILL WORE MY HALLOWEEN POWER PAWS.

So, that was a little disappointing. But I did totally ROCK the costume and made it my own.

Halloween Countdown

We took this photo at PetsMart way way back when. The flying pig costume was one of the first Mommy made for me. It was good but too big - especially the hood with nose. It flopped down over my head and I couldn't see where I was going. You see, PUGS have very small heads despite having rather large necks. So hoods are hard to fit.

Mommy also made Molly's cap which does not really stay on her head either. WHY? Because she has a pin head. That's really all. Her head is as small as Sunshine's.

Mom also made these TUTUs for us that year and it looked really great on me.

I am working hard trying to finish my Halloween costume in time. It has not been quite as easy as I thought. But I am confident I will have SOMETHING done on the day of the HAUNTING.

First of all, I had to find a pattern. That SHOULD have been easy but Mommy has found that ready made patterns DO NOT fit a pug. Even if a PUG is featured on the pattern envelope - it still never quite fits me right. The ONLY sewn costume that ever fit me right was the StormTrooper costume. And MOMMY created that one from scratch using a template online for a HUMAN costume. She's pretty clever, that Mommy of MINE.

Looking around the internets, I found something that MIGHT work even though it is not specifically a PUG thing

It gives Mommy the basic outline of what she needs to cut out. From there we can design something.

The next thing we had to do was shop for fabric. Have you ever BEEN to a FABRIC store before? It is OVERWHELMING. There are so many kinds of fabric and so many colors to choose from. I did not know where to begin!

I mean, do I want something HALLOWEENY or something I can wear some other time or something not HALLOWEENY but good for a costume of unexplained type? There was just so much I had to decide!!! But I did have my socks to build off of and so I took some of them along.

We spent hours. . . . NO DAYS . . . wandering in and out of the aisles comparing colors, textures, and overall CUTENESS. Because, in the end, I want to look CUTE and not scary. I am totally NOT into the scary.

Then it was down to business - cutting out and preparing to sew. This is the hard part but I am pretty sure I can do it. Mommy has to start working on Monday so I am ON MY OWN with this project. Wish me luck. I can sure use it.

I take my costume making very very SERIOUSLY. That is why I do NOT wear the same thing year after year after year. I CUSTOMIZE them every year. This year I decided to use one of my FAVORITE accessories ever - Power Paws by Woodrow Wear.

This post is NOT a review nor am I paid to write it. In a way it's an endorsement because I LOVE MY POWER PAWS. So this year my SOCKS are what I am building my costume on. It is a small touch that I think makes my costume uniquely MINE. If you don't know much about POWER PAWS, there is a link above and in my sidebar to their website. I also did a review of them a couple of years ago but it is so far down the list I cannot find it. I have worn them for years. Originally we got them for Molly because when her FOOT FUR gets too long she falls on the stairs. These are TRACTION socks so Mommy thought they would help her. AND THEY DO. They are traction socks, sure. And they are also good for SNOW socks, I know.

I like them because they are so stylish.

Hello EveryPUGGY
I hope you all had a very nice Halloween. I sure did. I greeted over ONE HUNDRED children (mostly teenagers and even some adults) who came to our door TRICK or TREATing. My throat was a little tender all day yesterday so I TOOK IT EASY while Mommy did some work for her boss (on a SUNDAY????)

But I am UP and AT 'em now and ready to hit the WEEK running. It is raining today (YES!!! REALLY!!!) and I think that has a lot to do with my haste. I feel the need (coming on just as quickly as I did my BIDNESS in the rain) to snuggle back down into my blankies.

I want to THANK all of you who participated in TELLING ME A STORY. It really was fun to read all of them. And I promised prizes so. . .

The Grand Halloween Costume Reveal

Hi my fellow Blogvillians. . . as you know, TODAY I am sharing with the world my Halloween Costume.

But Captain, it is not LOGICAL

It all began with Melissa from Pugnotes. She created some STAR TREK sweater vests and Bummlies. Well. . . my Mommy is a HUGE Star Trek fan and she simply could not resist the opportunity to buy one of Ms. Melissa's lovely sweater vests.

It was a tough decision, but Mommy decided to HONOR the late Leonard Nimoy and chose the SPOCK one. I gotta tell you, I was so excited about it when it came AND more so because she also got the SPOCK BUMMLIE. I love my Hammish Bummlie and now I have more to love.

While all this was going on, I was pondering away at what my HALLOWEEN COSTUME should be. It is tough to come up with something clever all the time and I was just on the verge of just wearing my costume from 2010 (Karate Kid) when it came to me. Mommy crocheted the hat for me and added the ears from a costume shop.

Wordless Wednesday - Halloween Style

My Inspiration

Who DOESN'T love the look of the Storm Troopers - minions of Darth Vader? I mean, look at them! So crisp, uniform, and commanding! And I am pretty sure they are not ALL men because that would be so SEXIST and we ARE talking a futuristic time.

So a STORM TROOPER is what I decided to be for Halloween. I know it is not dainty LIKE ME. . . and not girly LIKE ME. . . but it is kinda KICK B--T which is very LIKE ME.

So here are the first shots taken of my costume - during the final trying on BEFORE the laser and latches were complete.

Carving Out a Niche

Friday night was the Annual Pumpkin Carving Party at my Auntie J's house. She is not REALLY my Auntie - just a co-worker of my Mommy #2's. But I have known her MY WHOLE LIFE and she LOVES loves loves PUGS! Needless to say, we get along great.

It is a long drive to Auntie J's house. Everyone in the car was asleep except Mommy who was doing the driving! We got there and you COULD HEAR the PAWty noise from the parking lot!!!! I KNEW it was gonna be fun then!

There were a lot of adults (most I had met before) and A LOT OF KIDS! I was the only dog, I mean PUG, there. The two cats were hiding. I never saw fur nor tail of them ALL NIGHT!

We got busy carving and EATING and carving and EATING. I LOVES LOVES LOVES pumpkin and I got A LOT of it Friday night - along with a healthy dose of CARROTS (one kid thought it so funny that I do tricks for carrots that he musta slipped me a dozen CARROTS until Mommy cautioned him against it) I ate smidgens of TOFU DOG, COOKIE, and pretty much anything else that hit the floor.

After we carved, we set the pumpkins out on the patio and took pictures of them GLOWING!
