#chewyinfluencer Sunshine Report

As soon as the JANUARY newsletter for Chewy.com was published, I perused the offerings and picked one for ME! I find if I lollygag, the CANINES get first pick and I often get nothing. Maybe not nothing. I am quite spoiled lately with the new KITTY TREE and the KITTY CONDO - and the CAT amusement  ride -

NONETHELESS, I felt I was severely overlooked in the food and treat CATegory so I POUNCED. I chose the well-known and respected ROYAL CANIN: https://www.chewy.com/royal-canin-ultra-light-chunks-in/dp/178069

Here are the reasons why I, Sunshine the Cat, chose this particular food
  1. It has CHUNKS. Nothing worse than noshing on mush
  2. It is for ADULTS and not KITTENS. I am a mature CAT
  3. I am an older INDOOR cat who maybe doesn't need as many calories as one who wanders or plays a lot. I am 16 years YOUNG this year. I seldom play
  4. I WANTED to try it
I am very pleased with my decision. The gravy is delectable. The chunks are small which is my preferred CHUNK size. And I actually feel pretty good. I have lost a step or two to arthritis in my joints, but over all I am in good shape. Royal Canin and other good food choices are likely the reason why. Good food is so important to a MORE MATURE pet, like me. So I consider this month's choice a real WINNER.

Before I dash off, here are some facts about the Royal Canin Ultra Light Chunks in Gravy. Please note, this is not a singular protein food. There is so much flavor in each pouch

Time to Consider That New Year D-I-E-T

You all know that NOWADAYS I'm a pretty SVELTE pug PRINCESS? Well, I am. I might teeter up to 17 pounds but usually I am staying at 15 pounds. My DOGter says it is a good weight for me. But a really BAD thing has been happening over the holidays. So bad . . .because . . . I . . . have . . . been . . .

OVEREATING

And we are not talking a LITTLE. No, no, no - we are talking way way way too much of all of the good stuff. Constant TREATS! Constant grazing the kitchen floor for fallen tidbits (it happens, especially when Aunt T makes dinner). Constant EATING.

Mommy says if we don't stop soon we are gonna look like this group

These are the sea lions who hang out at Pier 39 in San Francisco
Mommy took this photo which is why it is not so clear (hehe)

Too be sure, this is a good look for a sea lion - which I am not. So I am taking matters into my own PAWS. I just signed up for the GAIAM exercise channel and for this month's Chewy.com review I picked a Healthy Weight (code for DIET) food by Blue Buffalo.

I'll let you know how me and Mommy are doing as we get going. But first, let me put down this cookie so I can publish. . .

WHAAAAAT? You didn't expect me to start COLD TURKEY, did you? Come to think of it, some cold roasted turkey might go well with this cookie.

I am a Clean, Lean, Cuddle Machine

Among PUGS and PUG pawrents, weight is a common topic of conversation. Rightfully so. We small compact pups DO tend to pack on the pounds if we are not ever diligent. I had to lose 5 pounds a few years back and let me tell you it was not EASY. That is a QUARTER of my total weight!!! Mommy accomplished this by being very careful with my diet in addition to making sure I got some exercise through the day,

What to do. . . what to do. Well in addition to small meals two times a day, I got lots of fruits and vegetables to fill me up and round out my diet. This photo tells the whole story. Those things in front of Molly and myself are what I want to focus on today - the "cakes" from Sunshine the Cat's birthday celebration. No calorie laden cakes for us! Our "slices" consisted of a cantaloupe shell with watermelon ice and a yogurt drizzle. How yummy is THAT????? Oh, I assure you, VERY. It's clever and Oh So TASTY.

Sunshine the Cat had a "cake" of a new wet food she was trying out. It is behind Molly in this photo. For some reason Sunshine did not like it and it was not enough to keep her attention. Hence the mournful stare into the house.

My point is - there are ways to get fruits and vegetables into your pet's diet which are fun and tasty. In the long run a good BABY CARROT (my fave snack) is a much better choice than a high calorie DOG BISCUIT. OMP! Just thinking of that sweet luscious is making my mouth water. . . .

I gotta find Mommy and sit pretty. Hopefully she gets the hint.

And Now for an AFFIRMATION

Waist Not Want Not - The Adage Has A WHOLE New Meaning

Bellatrix's Daddy took this Picture

I am sure you will recall that after Bellatrix's AWESOME PAWty my Mommy said compared to all of the other PUGS I was F-A-T! Mind you, most weighed more than me but they were A LOT TALLER than me. I am a petite PUG. I am the SNOOKI of Cali Shores! So a little weight really shows.

Thank you to all who came to my defense, I appreciate it; although I must be truthful here . . .

MOMMY WAS RIGHT!

I saw the pictures, I saw the proof. OMP where did all that weight COME FROM? So right after the CAKE Mommy put me on a, dare I say it, D-I-E-T. Yes, she cut my rations to almost nothing and changed all of my treats to HEALTHY ones (i.e. carrots, lettuce, plain yogurt, green beans, and corn cobs). It has been a tough 2 weeks. I had to keep my ACTIVITY (yeah, right! I am a PUG, people) up despite no snacks and no, well, FOOD.

But after two weeks, I can see results. There is a waist that I hadn't seen in a while. (I thought it was hiding under the bed!) And I can almost go through the sliding glass door again WITHOUT it being flung COMPLETELY open!

So I guess the old ADAGE can be rewritten from WASTE NOT WANT NOT (which I am clueless about) to WAIST NOT WANT NOT. Because when you are eating to your heart's content, your WAIST is definitely NOT anywhere to be found.

Welcome home, lil' one.

EFF- AAAAAAA -TEEEEE!!!!

Mommy called me F-A-T yesterday
It was AFTER Bellatrix's PAWSOME birthday PAWty
She said of ALL the pugs there I was the POR-KI-EST
Some weighed MORE but they were all TALLER than me
I am supposed to be a PETIT PUG not a PORKY PUG

You know what that means
It starts with a DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
and ends with a AY-EHT!!!!

Bellatrix, BLESS YOU! At least I was allowed some of your YUMMY BIRTHDAY CAKE before the axe dropped on my allowed FOODABLES.

H-E-L-P!
