Lost and Found and Fun

The talented Cousin E made my hat

Did you notice I went all missing on Friday? I hadn't planned to but, you know, life! This was a very IMPORTANT weekend because my Mommy #1 turned TWENTY-ONE years old. She really did. And that is Cause for a big celebration. Mommy #2 and I were very very BUSY getting things prepared for her celebration. Oh - no. She was NOT having a PAWty. I am afraid that turning 21 is when you celebrate with your FRIENDS and not your mom and dog. It was hard to accept. But, you know . . .

BUT we did have a FAMILY DINNER to celebrate. It included my Cousins E&C and Cousin E's fiance J. It also included Aunts B&T and, of course Mommy #2. The HUMANS went out for dinner and then brought BUNDT cakes home for the candle blowing.

I was so happy for Mommy #1. I only wish I could have stayed with her at university. She didn't think it would work out this time. It is a touchy situation because I am not her official comfort pet. If I were then I could go pretty much everywhere with her and when she needs to calm down (she gets anxious) I'd be there. HOWEVER, the school year is still young.

HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY MOMMY. I loves loves loves you so MUCH!

Molly no longer needs to wear a protective collar - plastic or flower - because today she got her stitches out. She is doing great. It turns out they also removed this rather large fatty tumor she had on her chest along with half a pound of bladder stones. She dropped over half a pound in weight right after the surgery! But she is doing great and TOMORROW she gets a bath. This may not be the most exciting thing to her, but for the rest of us - believe me it is.

We are so happy MY VET came through and took care of her problem. Molly is a much happier puppy now.

Me? I am just trying to figure out what to do next. I have so much I WANT to accomplish today, but it is MONDAY and you know how that goes. Maybe I will take a mini nap and think on it. Yes, that seems like a good idea.

I Need Some New Photos and Other Thoughts

The LADY is slacking off. I demand more new photos of ME and here we are recycling them over and over. It has been almost ONE FULL WEEK since the camera was pointed my way. That will NOT do.

So Let's see what's new. Molly is all better. She gets her stitches out next week. She is all HAPPY and stuff, though, which you can tell in the spring in her step. She has a smile on her face almost all the time. She had so many stones in her little bladder that she just did not feel too well most of the time. And, I remind you, that was almost a full HALF POUND of stones she had taken out. No one was the wiser about those awful stones because her weight never even fluctuated. That was a surprise we could do without.

Mommy #1 is gone back to university. She and Mommy #2 spend all day last Friday packing all of her stuff into Pugsley (the car) and taking it over to her suite. Her suite is more like an apartment than a dorm, BTW. I couldn't go because there wasn't really any room for me in the car (even Mommy's lap was full); but also they determined I might be a distraction. NEVER!

I am kind of sad without Mommy #1 around. Yes, I am lucky because I have Mommy #2 and I do adore her. BUT it isn't the same and all summer I was so happy to have 2 Mommys to cuddle between.

Sun's in my eyes!

Baseball season is winding down. Mommy #2 and Aunt T on Sunday went to the last Oakland As home game for the season. They had fun but the team LOST and that was quite sad. I theorize they lost because they were sad the regular season is coming to an end. This Sunday is the SF Giants' last home game of the season. That will be even SADDER because it is the last home game for Bochy. We sure have enjoyed his time with the club. No one can compare to what he brought to the club. I know I will miss him.

Vlasic and his FurBabies

But you know what baseball season ending means? YES Hockey returns!!! Mommy #1, Aunt T and Cousin C went to a player meet and autograph event last night. They got signatures of ALL (but one) of my favorite players. I am MOST excited about Captain Couture. He is one of my fave players. Then I also really love M.E. Vlasic because it is a well known fact that he LOVES his DOGS!!!. He does a lot for the PETS of Silicon Valley.

AND HAPPY TONGUE OUT TUESDAY

Molly Goes to the Vet - MY Vet - and the Outcome

This is a Cone of Shame which looks like a
flower. This one is too big for Molly

Molly has been acting a little under the weather for a while now. Not anything alarming, but not her normal good-girl self. You see. . . she was . . . peeing in the house! This is not her normal thing at all. But at the beginning of summer, it was becoming more so. She IS getting older so the huMOMs thought perhaps it was just a middle age thing. So when Mommy made the Chewy.com order, she included poochie panties for incontinence. Those are also known as DIAPERS.

But THEN my Mommy #2 noticed her pee was darker than it should be. WAY TOO dark. So she told Molly's Mommy (Aunt B) that perhaps she needed to see the dogter. They suspected a UTI even though Molly had been checked a couple of times for the same thing. But it was a few days later that Molly started panting and wandering around like she was in some pain and couldn't get comfortable. That was very worrying behavior and so she went to see her VET the next day.

Molly nervously waiting to see the dogter

The dogter felt around her tummy and went "Hmmmmm. Hmmmmm" and then she said they needed to do an Xray on her tummy. That TRAN$LATE$ into major funding. But her Mommy said "go for it" and they waited for the results. The results were not good - Molly had a significant amount of STONES in her bladder. I am so puzzled by this because (1) Molly NEVER eats stones and (2) how'd they get THERE??? That has not yet been answered, btw.

The dogter said she needed surgery but they don't do it at her vet hospital. They gave Molly's mommy some names of vets who do. But I raised my PAW really high and suggested MY VET. I know they do surgeries because they have done one on ME! Remember my nose growth and fold reconstruction? Yep. they did it and it looks great - SEE

My Mommy called the vet and made arrangements to take Molly in for consultation the SAME DAY! How cool is that. MY DOGTER came to the same conclusion and felt the surgery should be sooner the better as she was already in some pain. He had a traveling surgeon coming in that day and PERHAPS he could do it the same day. The PLUS was the kind of surgery she needed was his specialty. IF NOT, the surgery could still be done there but the next morning when the other dogter was in as he is the surgeon.

WELL - the traveling surgeon was able to take her and she had the surgery Monday afternoon. By Monday evening, she was home, groggy but otherwise fine. She is doing okay, moving slowly and occasionally whining. She had more than a DOZEN stones in her bladder - a few were about 1" in diameter! Poor thing! They sent the stones out to be analyzed so they have a clearer idea of the cause. In the meantime she is on some yucky prescription food. You know it is bad if I say it is YUCKY. I'd still eat it, mind you; but I do think it YUCKY.

Nerves

Her convalescence is about 3 weeks long since this was major surgery. She will likely be up and running way before then and the stitches come out in 14 days. But she will definitely recover 100% from this adventure.

Trying Hard to Keep it Wordless - and Failing

Lulu is begging

You all remember Lulu? She went back home Saturday to be with her Mami. I know she missed her a lot. I'm okay with it although it was kinda fun to have a youngun hanging around.

Molly is Begging
So Molly likes to be the center of attention. It happens. Especially when you are a blonde beauty as she is. Because, you know what? She GETS a lot of attention.

Me PRETENDING to NOT beg

Molly Update - Major Goof By Vet

So here's the thing. Molly totally has her teeth still. They are cleaner and all - but that is NOT what she was at the vet for. Nope. She was in for extraction of some really bad teeth and instead they were doing the dental and noticed some bad teeth. So they called - HOME - where only me and Molly were at. And we DO NOT answer the phone under penalty of JAIL (crate).

So they left message after message and then decided to wake her up and leave it at that. Well, that was not what she was in for. She has to go back on Tuesday for the bad teeth. In the meantime she also has pain meds and antibiotics for the BAD TEETH and the resulting pain.

Poor Molly.

August 15, 2015 is going to be a day that will go down in History. . . or Dogstory, if you will. WHY, you innocently ask?

Because August 15, 2015 is

You didn't hear of this? Well, in a nutshell, Clear the Shelters Day (with help from NBC and Telemundo stations) is when hundreds of shelters across the country are offering FREE or HEAVILY DISCOUNTED adoptions. Their goal???? To find all of the misplaced pets languishing in shelters GOOD LOVING HOMES. And don't we all deserve a good loving home?

It Came So Fast That - Molly's Number Three

I had no idea when I woke up that yesterday would be a special day for Molly. It was her THIRD BIRTHDAY! She was so happy trotting around and smiling and stuff. She knew it was going to be special.

First stop was PETSMART for some presents. There is so much to choose from that it was really hard to get just the right thing. Plus we just got some super cool treats to try from Chewy.com so we really didn't need anything there either.

She picked out a special meal for herself (she can get away with eating those high calorie canned meals. . . I can't. It all goes to my HIPS, you know. But she also made sure to get something for whitening her teeth and freshening her breath. She was very happy with her choice.

Following the trip to the store, it was back home to prepare for the family party. We played some and lazed some. Molly did everything she always wants to do but feels there is never enough time to do - like nap. . . and bark at a passing squirrel . . .  and nap . . . and bark at the car door shutting . . . and nap. She said it was so relaxing.

We BOTH got special meals with DESSERT because my celebration was sorta small as we were out of town on my actual birthday. Thank you Cousin E for making me feel special as well.

Molly enjoyed her birthday dinner and her special DESSERT.

I STARTED with dessert. It was yummy. Then I hit the main course with total abandon, as I often do. What a yummy and very appreciated meal.

Molly's Turn

I am NOW 2 Years Old

We spent this weekend celebrating Molly's Birthday. She turned TWO YEARS OLD on Sunday. Our family likes to do BIRTHDAYS right so there was a lot of special trips to the park, special meals, and extra special cuddling for Molly ALL WEEKEND. I can't be too jealous, though. After all, the WHOLE COUNTRY celebrates MY birthday.

She didn't get any presents because we got an awesome bed each (one is on its way) on MY big day.

We had to RELUCTANTLY retire Sock Monkey bed because he just fell apart in the wash one day. Sigh. And we had a couple of other beds that no longer looked clean and were kinda uncomfortable for both of us. SO My Mommy #2 and Molly's Mommy #1 decided now was the time for a new bed. We chose Martha Stewart ones and are we glad we did! Molly immediately got sick in one and it had to be washed. It came outta the wash and dry looking like a NEW-OFF-THE-SHELF BED!

So it was a lot of fun and now the birthdays are over for a while. I think I need to return to my D-I-E-T after all that good eating!

Pug-O-War

Molly is a BULLY!
See, I said it and I don't regret it.
She takes my toys and teases me
Then she engages in the most insidious of battles. . .

Molly is More Than a Pretty Face

My sister Molly is the PRETTY one. She is rail thin and BLONDE. Plus she has this dainty walk on dainty little feet; and her tiny BUTT sways side to side when she trots. While I am BEAUTIFUL in the world of PUGS, she is MODEL beautiful.

Because of this, she is often overlooked as just another pretty FACE. But the truth is, she is a very talented poochie. I cannot do HALF of the tricks she can do because my short legs and my wide-ish girth makes balancing difficult.

Last week Cousin E taught Molly to do what she called "Pretty" - which is balancing with her paws up. It was a step in learning first to raise a paw. The hope is she will eventually be able to "wave" with one paw in the air. If anyone can do it - Molly can.

I am not really jealous of her talent with tricks. After all, I am a PUG PRINCESS and we really don't do TRICKS.

Molly's New Blog

Molly did it. She started her own blog. She is so independent these days, you know. She turns 1 year old next month and she is ALL OVER IT!

So when she said she wanted to break away from my Blogville shadow, my Mommy #2 said SURE. She has set her up in Wordpress because, well she wanted to try it out.

I really really think Molly is going to be a Blogville star in her own right.
Check her out at http://mollyragmuffin.wordpress.com

HAPPY THOUGHT OF THE DAY: Take that first step, no matter how scary. Good things are almost guaranteed to happen.

So Bright I Gotta Wear Shades

This is Molly. She is mostly white.

See how she squints? It is because she is so white she BLINDS herself! Really! Sometimes I look at her and I cannot see for MINUTES because the whiteness blinds me.

Are your eyes hurting as much as mine are right now?

HAPPY THOUGHT OF THE DAY:  The Future's so BRIGHT I gotta wear shades. True THEN. . . true NOW

Point of View

I think this picture of Sunshine the Cat and Molly is hilarious. Here's why

  1. They are sitting together on the chair. As if!
  2. Molly's HEAD looks gigantic
  3. Molly looks bigger than Sunshine and she is NOT
  4. What is Sunshine thinking? Her expression is multi-faceted
Most of all I wonder - why am I NOT in the picture?

THOUGHT OF THE DAY: Give Yourself the Gift of Being Joyfully You! I totally stole this from somewhere else BUT I like it.

Molly! Molly! Where're you going?
Off on an Adventure or Two
Going to the Horizon
To do what Adventurers do

HAPPY THOUGHT OF THE DAY: I loves loves loves to go on Adventures and see new things.

Molly's Day in the SUN

She's really SCARED here. The sill is up high and she does not
jump down from up high

Last Saturday Molly spent all day in her mommy Cousin E's lap. Cousin E was studying for finals and Molly was just lazing in the SUN.

Okay . . . Okay! There is more to this story. In  the 3 short months Molly has lived with us, she has:

  1. Doubled in height and length (she is nearly my height and easily as long)
  2. Doubled in weight BUT NOT girth (she is still weasely skinny)
  3. EARNED her Certificate of Achievement from Puppy School
  4. Learned to walk on a leash, although she still pulls A LOT
  5. Learned to go potty outside ALL BY HERSELF
  6. Learned to SAY she has to go outside to go POTTY
  7. Had 2 HAIRCUTS and a zillion BATHS
That's pretty good for a KID, don't you think?

Me and Molly Tearing It Up

This is me and Molly in MY CRATE! She likes to STEAL it from me so I have been taking to running like a MAD PUG to my crate whenever I get wind of her intentions. Then she arrives all flustered and stuff BUT insists on JOINING ME in the crate. Sometimes when it is cold in the room I don't really mind because for a little weaselly thing she sure generates a lot of HEAT.

Yesterday - well it was really more like last night because the sun had already gone down even though it was not yet 5pm - we were put into the pen so the 'rents and aunties and cousins could go OUT TO EAT for Auntie T's birthday. Molly was a little amped up cuz they fed us BEFORE they left just in case they were out too long after our normal dinner time.

It is all a blur now but what I can report is the Mommys started yelling LOUD when they got home about the pen being trashed, toys thrown everywhere, blankets draped on lampshades. . .  but WORST of all . . . the water bowl had SOMEHOW turned over and there was water EVERYWHERE even under my crate. We were quickly ushered out of the room so they could clean up and THEN we were RETURNED to do penance for our crime.

That Molly - she sure makes life interesting.
